SNES Nosferatu in 22:22 Tool-Assisted Speedrun by FODA This version skips all cutscenes. If you want a full video with all cutscenes and intro (recommended) watch this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA9VnLIzXFo Tool-assisted speedrun (TAS) - aims for fastest completion - plays on hard mode - takes damage to save time The red crystals I collect help me speed up the fighting, but having 1 red crystal is needed for many parts of the game, which with 0 red crystals it's impossible to pass. - 1 red crystal = learn sliding tackle - 3 red crystals = better combo - 6 red crystals = even better combo - 9 red crystals = final combo You'll notice that the screen flashes when 3,6 or 9 crystals are aqcuired, indicating that the set of moves has changed. It's a TAS meaning it was played on an emulator using tools, such as savestates to undo mistakes and slowdown to allow precise input, to overcome human limitations. The objective of a TAS is to show the game pushed to it's limits, without the constraints of human skills and reflexes. visit http://tasvideos.org/ for more information on TAS movies Tags: tas tool assisted speedrun timeattack nosferatu foda tasvideos nesvideos snes emulator snes9x input supernes nesrocks |

Super Mario 64 Tool-Assisted Speedrun - Zero stars At first there were 70 stars because Bowser demanded it. Then there were 16 stars because MIPS demanded it. Then there was 1 star because Bowser's Sub demanded it. Now there are none because the players at the site which made this movie are impatient and demanded the game be quicker. This run is played with an emulator, slowdown and flagrant abuse of save-states to correct any minor mistakes. As a result, Mario is not being controlled by a mere mortal and he can consistently do things a real human cannot. Anyone posting comments to the effect that this video is cheated, photoshopped or that the player is the best player alive obviously hasn't read this description. So sit back and watch Super Mario 64 be taken apart like it's never been before. Authors: AKA & Swordless Link Site: http://tasvideos.org/1017M.html Tags: super mario 64 tool-assisted speedrun |

Super Metroid 100% Tool-Assisted Speedrun pt. 1 I did not make this. All I did was convert this into a format suitable for uploading to YouTube. All credit for playing this goes to JXQ. This is one of the best TASes I've seen so far. Even knowing it's a TAS I'm still absolutely amazed by some of the tricks in here. Unfortunately 30 fps is insufficient to capture the awesomeness of the run or the game itself. Not a fan of splitting videos either. You can download the input file and read the author's comments at http://tasvideos.org/1483S.html This is really the kind of video series that needs to be watched from beginning to end. Water Temple (OoT) ~ A Tool-Assisted Speedrun This isn't actually complete, as I intend to show the boss battle as well. But I'm still working on that, and due to popular demand, I uploaded it as it is. When the one with the boss battle is done, I'll just delete this one and replace it with that. The goal of this run is the complete the Water Temple from Ocarina of Time in as low a time as possible. It was made using slowdown, savestates, and re-recordings on an emulator, and is designed to provide entertainment to the viewer, and nothing else. It is in no way meant to show skill. And you'll notice that there's some horrible lag every time the game is paused. This is an issue with the emulator, and there is no known fix for it at the moment, so you'll just have to live with it. Enjoy. Tags: The Legend of Zelda Ocarina Time Water Temple TAS |

Battle of Olympus Tool-assisted speedrun in 10:41 This video was made using an emulator at really slow speeds and using savestates (to undo mistakes countless times). It's meant as a demonstration of what is the fastest possible time, and has nothing to do with gaming skills. Battle of Olympus (オリュンポスの戦い) improved by 9 minutes and 11 seconds, which means that the length of Arc's previous movie was almost halved. This improvement consists of the utilization of a major glitch, pressing Left+Right at the same time for almost unlimited velocity growth. The trick is documented at Battle of Olympus Tricks. The route used in this movie is decided by a few things the hero (Orpheus) must do: Collect three heart pieces in order to activate the Tartarus entry. Get a key to access the third heart location. Get an eyeball of Graeae to see invisible doors (to access the second heart location). Get a sword from the Spirit of Forest. It is needed to kill the three-headed guardian with respawning heads in Tartarus. Collect 60 olives in order to buy an ocarina, which will be needed to cross the sea to get to Crete and Tartarus. Get a harp in order to call Pegasus. It makes the route faster. People often compare this game with Zelda 2 because of its similar gameplay. for more information on these videos, visit http://tasvideos.org Tags: battle of olympus tas foda |

Contra III Tool Assisted Speed Run Part 1 (Comments have been disabled for part 1, please post any comments you may have under part 2) I nearly halve the time on my previous tool assisted run through Contra III for the Super Nintendo. This time I'm aiming for speed. Still a little off from the record time. Note: Tool assisted speed runs are not a form of cheating. No RAM modifications are being used (Game Genie, Action Replay, HEX editor, etc). Tool assisted just means the use of an emulator, save states, the ability to slow down and redo mistakes until you've made the 'perfect' run. Tags: Contra 3 III Alien Wars Speed Run Tool Assisted |

Tool-Assisted Speedruns - Are they cheating? Title says it all. This is my view on tool-assisted speedruns, about cheating or not cheating. Feel free to comment and post your opinions on the subject. If you have a disagreement on something, please at least be formal about it. Tell why you think something is cheating, not just looking, and thinking, "Hey, I can't figure out how to do that. He must be cheating." Comments like "yes, TAS is cheating" or "STFU noob, its cheating no matter how you view it" will be deleted. Tell me why if you don't agree with me! I know alot about these games and how the process of creating a TAS works, so I could probably discern for you if it is or is not cheating. See, as for me, I think that a TAS itself appeals to another audience... not one who wants to see a video of someone beating the game in a humanly possible manner, but at the fastest possible time with the game pushed to its limits to do so, with bug exploits and all. It looks pretty cool, too. :) Bug exploiting is a whole new argument, but generally, people will make two different TAS's exploiting and not exploiting a bug if it makes a huge difference in gameplay, like cuts out a chunk of the game. In fact, there are two TAS's for many games, like SMB2, SMW, and SM64. Tags: tool assisted tool-assisted speed run speedrun cheating TAS mario |

Phosphor Tool Assisted Gameplay NOTE: Do NOT ask me about setting up multiplayer. Read Rasterwerk's own page about it. This is the web browser based FPS Phosphor with the built-in debug set at 15% speed. Just explore the debug menu by opening it with "~" (the key to the left of 1 on the keyboard). Some debug commands (cheats) I found: god (invincibility) ghost (walk through walls) weapon (change ammo limit on weapons, I use "weapon all get 10000" hehe) time (change game speed, e.g. "time .5" means you're playing at 50% speed) Thanks to JVic1992 for clearing up about buddha. Banjo-Kazooie Tool Assisted 100% Speed Run Part 1 IMPORTANT! READ THIS FIRST! Just a general note to viewers: This is a Tool-Assisted Speedrun, which means the runner tries to use flaws in the game's programming and tricks which wouldn't normally be performable under normal circumstances. Savestates and game slowdown are used to achieve the fastest completion time possible. Please do not compare this run to a traditional speedrun like Marshmallow's 100% run, as the preparation for each is entirely different. Watch Sami Outinen of tasvideos.org play Banjo-Kazooie with perfect control, exploiting glitches and design flaws that can only be dreamed of in the cartridge version. This run is incomplete; it ends after entering Gobi's Valley. I'm also well aware that there's no sound, that was a glitch in recording that I'm working to fix now. Recorded using GameCam. Super Mario World - Tool Assisted Speed Run This is an edited video! Please read below for more information. This is my tool assisted speed run on Super Mario World for the Super Nintendo. Played on the ZSNES emulator. Final time from pressing "1 Player Game" to the killing blow of Bowser is 11:25. In order to shrink what was originally a video a little over 12 minutes in length to just under 10 minutes to fit YouTube's time requirements certain things have been cut from the video. (This was originally a private video to show friends and wasn't wanting to cut it up into two clips which I wish I had done now.) 1) The intro 2) Selecting a new game and 1 player mode 3) The "timer to points" countdown at the end of most levels 4) Castle #1 demolition scene. 5) The opening of the paths after finishing Star Worlds levels 1 and 2 plus most of the transition afterwards. Many of the tricks and bug exploits used in the world record run I used myself, but this being only my second time performing a speed, I am not as skilled at doing these. Tool Assisted Speed Runs is cheating in the essence that I'm cheating the system using reflexes that a human would not be able to do under normal circumstances. I am not, however, using any cheat devices or ROM/RAM hacking. What you see in this video can be performed in the real game on a real console if you have sufficient reflexes.
