The Village: Tuomas Holopainen This is a brief excerpt from the 2006 Finnish documentary Maan mainiot on Tuomas Holopainen, the songwriter and keyboardist of the metal band Nightwish. Tuomas is playing the soundtrack of The Village on his keyboard and explains why it's his favorite movie. Translation below is courtesy of Tika and Morrigan. I've added and revised the subtitles myself and uploaded it for my English utopia/dystopia project on the 2004 movie, The Village. :) I think that is perhaps the most beautiful soundtrack ever made. And the most beautiful movie. The Village. In the beginning of the year, when I was going through difficult times, it was hard to keep on track with what was happening when there were all kinds of trouble and drama. More than in the last ten years altogether. That movie helped me through that. I remember that I watched it at least ten times a week. Some days two or three times. That movie is a great example of escapism. I would be ready to move into that village any time. (Also, please note I had a similar video up earlier but deleted it because I've finally been able to make the subtitles larger and closer to the bottom of the screen. I see such a great chemistry between them, and it's pity they aren't together. But oh well, Tarja is married to Marcelo and life goes on. Tuomas Holopainen - A True Music Genius... This is the way that I chose to show my appreciation towards Tuomas Holopainen's work. He's not just a pretty boy. He's a magnificent compositor and a musician that holds the power to create epic songs to Nightwish. He is, indeed, the most gifted person i've ever seen... I know that this is not well done, but it was my first time in WMM so... Tuomas Holopainen (Nightwish) interview 7.11.2007, US Tour Nightwish are touring at the moment in the States and Canada. According to Tuomas Holopainen everything has gone superbly and the new singer Anette has been received warmly. Perhaps some check the first 3 to 4 songs, especially the older fans and wonder how Anette is going to manage but after hearing her, they kinda melt. We have done now 14 gigs and I´ve seen only 1 middle finger. No rotten tomatoes thrown at the stage. So, mostly this has been absolute ecstasy. Well, in Toronto, after gig, we had a surprise guest waiting for us at the backstage. There was a raccoon eating peanuts on top of my stuff. Then he came to eat and hang out with us for a while.
