New Mexico: Planned Parenthood Racism Investigation Planned Parenthood of New Mexico accepts money from a racist donor to target African Americans for abortions because "there are way too many blacks in America". African American women account for only 12% of the female population but submit to over 36% of abortions. 1400 African American babies are lost to abortion each day. This is no accident: Planned Parenthood targets minorities, putting over 79% of their clinics in minority neighborhoods. Their founder, Margaret Sanger, designed the organization to use sterilization and abortion to control minority populations. And today, Planned Parenthood of America sets up special funds across the country to target minority women. The ancient Indians who settled here thousands of years ago,the Spanish colonists who established a frontier town circa 1610 and the millions of visitors today understand that Santa Fe is a magical place. Back in 1912, in recognition of the city's unique heritage, officials enacted laws requiring that structures be built in historic Pueblo Revival and Territorial architectural styles. in alamogordo, new mexico, on july 16, 1945 we waited until the blast had passed, walked out of the shelter and then it was extremely solemn... if the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky that would be like the splendor of the mighty one... the optimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds and the pessimist knows it. -j. robert oppenheimer we were lying there, very tense, in the early dawn, and there were just a few streaks of gold in the east; you could see your neighbor very dimly. those ten seconds were the longest ten seconds that i ever experienced. suddenly, there was an enormous flash of light , the brightest light i have ever seen or that i think anyone has ever seen. it blasted; it pounced; it bored its way right through you. it was a vision which was seen with more than the eye. it was seen to last forever. you would wish it to stop; altogether it lasted about two seconds. finally it was over, diminishing, and we looked toward the place where the bomb had been; there was an enormous ball of fire which grew and grew and it rolled as it grew; it went up into the air, in yellow flashes and into scarlet and green. it looked menacing. it seemed to come toward one. a new thing had just been born... -isidor rabi at the instant of the explosion i was looking directly at it, with no eye protection of any kind...the grandeur and magnitude of the phenomenon were completely breath-taking. -robert serber we wore welder's glasses. the thing that got me was not the flash but the blinding heat of a bright day on your face in the cold desert morning. it was like opening a hot oven with the sun coming out like a sunrise. -philip morrison je zt komm e , feu er ! -hölderlin il y a là c end re -jacques derrida asche, asche, asche . nach t . nach t - und - nacht . -paul celan tu n' as rien vu à h iroshima . r i e n . j'ai tout vu. t out... -marguerite duras for the gaze of music that leaves it behind, it is rounded to a sphere that can be overvi ewd, as in the meantime it has already bee n photographed from space , not the center of creation but something minute and ephe meral . to such experience is allied the mel ancholy hope for other stars, inhabited be h appier beings than humans . but the earth t hat has grown remote to itself is without the hope the stars once promised . it is sinking into empty galaxies . on it lies beauty as the refrection of past hope , which fills the dying eye until it is frozen below the flakes of unb ound space the moment of delight before s uch beauty dares to withstand its abandon ment to disenchanted nature. that metap hysics is no longer possible becom es the ultimate metaphysics. -theodor. w. adorno hasel and gretel are alive and well and they're living in berlin she is a cocktail waitress he had a part in a fassbinder film and they sit around at night now drinking schnapps and gin and she says : hansel, you're really bringing me down and he says : gretel, you can really be a bitch he says : i' ve wasted my life on our stupid legend when my one and only love was the wicked witch. she said : what is history ? and he said : history is an angel being blown backwards into the future he said : history is a pile of debris and the angel wants to go back and fix things to repair the things that have been broken but there is a storm blowing from paradaise and the storm keeps blowing the angel backwards into the future . and this storm, this storm is called progress -laurie anderson(for walter benjamin) staring at a bur ning fir e isn't salv ation sympathy f or the d evil isn't salvation lucid ambiguity isn't salvation b la bla bl a bla bla bl a isn't s altation discovering t here is n o salvation i s sa lvation -bernardo bertolucci oppenheimer's aria :: ryuichi sakamoto / reference : olivier messiaen / visual : shiro takatani (dumb type) http://www.sitesakamoto.com/oppenheimer_single.swf Tags: oppenheimer atomic thermo nuclear bomb hiroshima los alamos manhattan project trinity test faust eden vishnu विष्णु technology documentary news political commercial interview computer science math humanities physical social music wisdom electronics environment culture events landmark nature |

The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, New Mexico, 1998 (Wow! 10 years ago!) The Rio Grande Gorge is about 650 feet deep where the Gorge bridge goes over it. Beautiful scenery and very exciting. It is about a 20 minute drive from Taos, New Mexico. The river looks like a small ribbon of water from the vantage point on the bridge. I know it's not very good quality; it was made with an inexpensive camcorder in 1998. I still thought it would be interesting to have it here on YouTube though. "Hot Air Balloon Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico" Here are some of the photos I've taken at the massive Hot Air Balloon Festival, held each year in Albuquerque, New Mexico . . . hundreds of balloons participate every year . . . the cost for the fancy "specialty balloons" exceeds well over $100,000. The great thing about these events, is that they allow you to wander around EVERYWHERE as the balloons are being setup and inflated! Lechuguilla Cave, New Mexico, Guiding Science in 2007 July 2007 Science Foray into Lechuguilla Cave, Carlsbad Caverns Natl Park, New Mexico with music by Lettfield. Dave and Kristen Levy, Gosie Allison, Kent Taylor, Pat Cicero, and Chris Andrews assist Doctor Dave Levy with his on going water studies. For the first time a Guadalupe Mountains cave extends deep enough that scientists may study five separate geologic formations from the inside. The profusion of gypsum and sulfur lends support to speleogenesis by sulfuric acid dissolution. Rare, chemolithoautotrophic bacteria are believed to occur in the cave. These bacteria feed on the sulfur, iron, and manganese minerals and may assist in enlarging the cave and determining the shapes of some unusual speleothems. Other studies indicate that some microbes may have medicinal qualities that are beneficial to humans. Tags: caving newmexico carlsbad lechuguilla cavern climbing underground deep |
