"La scelta di collocare in Abruzzo un insediamento di queste dimensioni" ha rimarcato il Presidente della Regione "è stata sicuramente una felice intuizione che, oltretutto, esalta la nostra abruzzesità, il nostro modo di intendere il lavoro". Oltre 1000 dipendenti, 1100 per la precisione, 785 milioni di euro di fatturato nel 2006, oltre 170 mila moto prodotte nel 2005. Sono alcuni dei dati della Honda di Atessa, il più importante sito produttivo europeo dell'azienda nipponica. "Una volta la potenza industriale di un Paese veniva misurata dalla quantità di acciaio che riusciva a produrre" ha proseguito Del Turco "oggi, invece, sono altri gli indicatori dell'economia. Per esempio, la capacità di generare o di approvvigionarsi di fonti di energia piuttosto che della quantità di semiconduttori che usa per la propria produzione. Ma c'è anche un indicatore che, pur non comparendo nelle statistiche" ha continuato " è in grado di far emergere il carattere di un territorio: la presenza di eccellenze industriali. E l'Abruzzo ne ha diverse. Penso alla Micron di Avezzano, alla Sevel, che vive in questo stesso contesto, e la Honda, aziende che la gente conosce e che apprezza per il lavoro ed per il ruolo che svolgono, in Italia e nel mondo.
