Over that period of time they grew under the skin and clustered, but there was no pain and they blended in very well. I discovered them simply because the skin looked a bit out of place and I cut at it. Upon further digging and application of OTC acids, the warts became very obvious (distinct, white areas). This is after 2 weeks of medicating with Compound W with little results. I'm posting this for informational purposes because I had no idea what happens with plantar warts. Rather than just being a growth ON the skin, the wart extends deep into the skin all the way to the epidermis. The base is not easily detached and is said to be that way so the body does not recognize and attack it. I plan on going to doctor because, as you can see, they can grow into large clusters if left untreated. If I were to tear them out by myself or keep treating it between bleeding, large (and bloody) craters would be left in my foot, which leads to danger of infection. I would say treat your warts with over the counter medications if it has not gotten too out of hand (unlike my case). It's cheaper and pretty easy to do, but be sure to apply the medication religiously lest you want them growing back. FYI the injection of Novocain in your foot: most painful shot you'll ever get.
