Wolfenstein 3D This is wolfenstein 3d running through Dosbox 0.72 on Mac, unfortunately im not a big fan of the original wolf3d so i dont really know my way around and you'll see i get a bit lost on the second level. ------------------------------------- Taken from wikipedia: In Wolfenstein 3D, the player is an American soldier named BJ Blazkowicz attempting to escape from the eponymous Nazi stronghold; there are many armed guards, as well as attack dogs. The building has a number of hidden rooms containing various treasures, food supplies, and medical kits, as well as three different guns and ammunition. Wolfenstein 3D was released as shareware, which allowed it to be copied widely. The shareware release contains one episode, consisting of 10 missions (levels). The commercial release consists of three episodes including the shareware episode, and a mission pack called "The Nocturnal Missions". Like the shareware episode, each commercial episode contains 10 levels, bringing the game to a total of 60 missions. The episodes are: * The original trilogy: 1. "Escape from Wolfenstein" (shareware episode) 2. "Operation: Eisenfaust" 3. "Die, Führer, Die" * The Nocturnal Missions: 4. "A Dark Secret" 5. "Trail of the Madman" 6. "Confrontation" The game was originally released on the PC and then ported to Macintosh computers, Apple IIGS, Acorn Archimedes, Super NES, Atari Jaguar, Game Boy Advance, and 3DO. The source code of the game was published by id Software on July 21, 1995 under a non-profit EULA, starting the long tradition at id Software of opening the entire source code (but not data) to an old game. Some unofficial and unstable ports to different platforms like Linux and add-ons have been developed. Tags: pc wolfenstein 3d wolf wolf3d wolfenstien fps classicfps old dos |

PC - Wolfenstein 3D - E1M10 100% Video Description: A run-through of Episode 1's secret level on Death Incarnate difficulty, starting with pistol + 8 bullets, obtaining 100% kills/treasure/secrets. Recording Method: Made a ZMBV with DOSBox 0.70. Loaded it in VirtualDubMod, created a WAV file of the audio and converted it to MP3 with Lame, and fast recompressed the video using the XviD codec. Comments: This is what a hidden level should be - challenging, weird, nothing like the rest of the episode, and full of secrets. This stage uses every wall texture in the shareware version, but mainly the purple vines + ceiling (which aren't seen normally until E2L6). Combined with the music, you really do feel lonely... It's definitely the hardest level in Episode 1 as well, as there are a lot of SS and regular guards in awkward spots, with no chaingun and not much health outside of secret doors. That fake exit will bring up memories for many of you, I'm sure. =) You may notice that on the way to the gold key, I find an area with 2 secret doors and don't use them - this is a shortcut to the locked door which is normally very helpful but doesn't fit in with the 100% route. One last general note - the game doesn't give you stats for secret or boss levels. I ended up having to use a map-editing program to view the level, and can confirm that this is a true 100%. PC - Wolfenstein 3D - E3M9 (Hitler) 100% Video Description: A run-through of Episode 3 Level 9 on Death Incarnate difficulty, starting with pistol + 8 bullets, obtaining 100% kills/treasure/secrets. Recording Method: Made a ZMBV with DOSBox 0.70. Loaded it in VirtualDubMod, created a WAV file of the audio and converted it to MP3 with Lame, and fast recompressed the video using the XviD codec. Comments: Ah, the Hitler level. This is actually not easy to 100%, as you will need all available ammo. Enemies take a random number of hits to kill, and that really affects this level since the Hitler Ghosts can take anywhere from 16-30 shots IIRC. Their fireballs are dangerous too, which is why I tend to be cautious around them. This is actually the fastest time of any attempts, plus I imagined the end was meant to be something like this. =) You also get to see the DEATHCAM in action here, woot! And is it just me, or does Mecha-Hitler look like something out of South Park? Tags: wolfenstein 3d wolf3d e3l9 e3m9 100% pc dos id software apogee |

PC - Wolfenstein 3D - E1M5 100% Video Description: A run-through of Episode 1 Level 5 on Death Incarnate difficulty, starting with pistol + 8 bullets, obtaining 100% kills/treasure/secrets. Recording Method: Made a ZMBV with DOSBox 0.70. Loaded it in VirtualDubMod, created a WAV file of the audio and converted it to MP3 with Lame, and fast recompressed the video using the XviD codec. Comments: Remember when I said the secret level is the hardest in Episode 1? Well, for 100%'s, I think this one beats it. For starters, there are 109 enemies total! This is why I stick with the machine gun: to conserve ammo. Note how when you grab the chaingun, you can use the machine gun even though you never actually picked that up. =P Additionally, there are nowhere near as many helpful secret areas as in level 10. In fact, the last secret door reveals a huge area (~1/3 of the level, actually) filled with enemies attacking you from all sides. The only real exciting part of the level, honestly - you can't just sit there and camp, as your backside is open at all times. They do provide you with a ton of treasure/health/ammo if you survive, though. =) I take it slow at times here because it is very easy for a guard or two to escape your sight and cost you 100% kills. This happened to me in several attempts! Tags: wolfenstein 3d wolf3d e1l5 e1m5 100% pc dos id software apogee |

Id Software Games for SNES: Wolfenstein 3D and Doom Basically it's just gameplay on Doom and Wolfenstein on the Super Nintendo: Id Software games that is. Anyways i'll point out the changes in these games: WOLFENSTEIN 3D: * Nazi refrenences have been removed. * Adolf Hitler's name has now changed and he has also had his moustache removed. He is now named Staatmeister. * The blood has now being replaced with sweat. * The enemies' voices have now being changed and they now say something in English. * All bosses now say ''Comin' for ya!''. * Two new weapons have now been added, the rocket launcher and the flamethrower. * The Levels have been modified a bit. * Dogs have now being replaced with giant mutant rats due to complaints. * The graphics now look really blocky and pixelited. What the hell. DOOM: * No texture on the floors and ceilings. * The enemies now always face you due to memory space in the cartridge. * Enemies now can't fight each other. But again it's the space in the cartridge. * But the enemies with the same kind like Imp and Imp can now damage each other though. * A couple of levels have been removed like for example E1M6 I guess. * You can't turn while starfing which is a pain in the ass. * Enemies now walk around when you die. * You now drop to the floor faster and the enemies' voices have now been modifed a bit like the Demon's death voice now has Imps' death voice. * To play on the later episodes. You have to play over a harder differculty. * No password system or save system, so if you switch off your system. You have to start all over from the beginning of the episode which is a disgrace!!! (I think that's all, anymore?) Tags: id software wolfenstein 3D doom super fx nintendo snes 1996 |

Beta SNES Wolfenstein 3D - E1M1 Yep, the thing you read is true! This video shows you Wolfenstein 3D before the final release for the SNES. Mayor differences: - Your enemies instead of saying "Dah!", says "Hey!" - There is a number in the upper-right part of the screen, normally a 4, no idea what is that. - Enemies drop blood! - The status bar instead of having black borders, have blue borders. - Rats doesn't scream when they die. - No smile when you pick-up a gun. - 5 letter passwords. - No "Password: ******" on the map. - The level design! This map is really different to the final version map. Enjoy! Tags: Beta SNES Wolfenstein 3D |

PC - Wolfenstein 3D - Episode 2 Speedrun by zzzKOTzzz PLEASE READ THE FULL DESCRIPTION FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION! Like I promised, here we have something a bit different - an insane speedrun by Russian player zzzKOTzzz. NOTES: The game was run on the easiest difficulty setting, using NewWolf - this is generally the same as the original game, except the graphics are better and you can turn while strafing. Thus, this allows for much faster movement, and these times may not be possible in the original version. All of the strategies themselves can still be performed in Wolf3D, though, just not the movement. He runs each level in an individual segment - kinda like me, except his stats carry over from one level to the next, so it LOOKS like a single run. If you've seen Quake Done Quick or Doom Done Quick, that's basically what he does here. Also, sadly, the music skips constantly. Fortunately, he beats the levels fast enough for it not to get annoying. ;) Enjoy! Tags: wolf3d wdq dos id software apogee |

PC - Wolfenstein 3D - E2M8 "Aardwolf" Video Description: A run-through of Episode 2 Level 8 on Death Incarnate difficulty, starting with pistol + 8 bullets, obtaining all kills/secrets/treasure in the "normal" part of the level and then finding the hidden "Aardwolf" sprite. Recording Method: Made a ZMBV with DOSBox 0.70. Loaded it in VirtualDubMod, created a WAV file of the audio and converted it to MP3 with Lame, and fast recompressed the video using the XviD codec. Comments: Well, you can break 10 minutes, but not by much. How do Jedite and the others manage that? So, on to the level itself. It's a bit small, and easier than most of the episode - not many mutants. The reason for this is that much of the level is hidden behind secret doors. Specifically, there is an enormous maze of over 175 secret doors. There are a number of different paths you can take - some lead to treasure & extra lives, some lead to Hans Grosse (yes, the first boss), and then there's the one I show you here... See, there was actually a contest involving this level. If you find the correct way through this maze, you will reach a sprite saying "CALL APOGEE SAY AARDWOLF." If you followed those directions, you would win a prize! Nobody ever actually did, though - within days of the game's release, people were writing editors and discovered the sprite while doing so. Additionally, the game itself had a cheat code that allowed you to see the sprite. Obviously can't blame id/Apogee for what the players do, but that code was pretty dumb. =P So, since there are so many ways through the maze, and you can't take them all, it is impossible to achieve 100% anything in this level. Thus, my approach is to get all kills/treasure/secrets in the "normal" part of the level, find the "Aardwolf" sprite, and then exit the level. One last note: All of my other videos are made with the Activision re-release of this game, which is v1.4. However, they removed all references to Apogee, including this graphic. So for this particular level, I am running v1.1. Hopefully, this will be worth the time for all of you out there! =) Tags: wolf3d e2l8 dos id software apogee |

Fortunately, he beats the levels fast enough for it not to get annoying. ;) PERSONAL COMMENT: Of all of his runs, this is the only one where I can think of an improvement: E1M4. I somehow managed to get the guards to open the locked door in that level, and he doesn't do that here. Literally, that's it - I don't see flaws in any of his other level strategies. Although maybe he could've tried to make it to Hans with more life so he wouldn't have to hide so much, but that's kinda nitpicking. Enjoy! =) Tags: wolf3d wdq dos id software apogee |
