Wunderkind is the product of the collaboration between producer/writer /multi instrumentalist Wim Arys and singer/presenter Deborah Ostrega. Late 2007: Lords of Acid had been on hold for a while, and Deborah was looking for a new musical challenge and a chance to get back on stage. Mutual friend Peter Decuypere (of I love techno fame) had heard a demo of Deborah singing old jazz standards and realized that she had a lot more vocal capabilities than she was using in Lords of Acid. He subsequently tipped her as a potential vocal collaborator for projects to producer friends Wim Arys and M.I.K.E. Dierickx. Wim's former rockband Kill Spector had unexpectedly disbanded earlier that year, leaving him with a wealth of new material that seemed to fit perfectly with Deborah's voice and vibe. Just four months later, they had a full album ready, recorded and mixed at Wims' Magnetic studio and mastered at the prestigious Sterling Sound Studios in New York. The sound of the album can best be described as rock with strong melodies and an electronic edge.
