GUITAR BATTLE!!Zakk vs. Slash Zakk Wylde versus Slash Zakk Wylde (born Jeffrey Phillip Wiedlandt on January 14, 1967 in Bayonne, New Jersey) is a lead guitarist, pianist, singer and songwriter, best known for his role as founder of Black Label Society and guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne. Wylde was lead guitarist and vocalist in Pride & Glory, who released one self-titled album in 1994 before disbanding. As a solo artist he released the critically acclaimed Book of Shadows in 1996. Wylde's playing is characterised by his liberal use of pinch harmonics and the pentatonic scale. Black Label Society is a heavy metal band formed by Zakk Wylde, with 9 albums released to date. Pride and Glory is a side project for Zakk Wylde. He is best known as the guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne's band. Zakk made his first album, Pride & Glory. Following that, he released Book of Shadows. After this, he formed the Black Label Society, his current band. The album Pride and Glory has more of a southern rock sound than Zakk Wylde's other albums incorporating banjos and mandolins. The album is almost a complete departure from the music Zakk usually plays. Zakk's songwriting skills come to the forefront on the album, and a lot of Ozzy's later work can be heard in this album. The songs are very dynamic, and have a very loose feel to them, namely "Losin' Your Mind" and "Troubled Wine." Zakk also incorporated his southern-drawl voice to complement the southern sound on the whole album. The band was originally named Lynyrd Skynhead and included James Lomenzo and Greg D'Angelo alongside Wylde. In 1994 D'Angelo was replaced by drummer Brian Tichy, this was at the same time that the band changed their name to Pride & Glory, and later that year they released their self-titled debut - and only - album on Geffen Records. In November 1994 Lomenzo left after their tour of Japan, 3 days before the beginning of their US Tour. Zakk managed to find a replacement for James in his long time friend J.D. The band played their last show on December 10th 1994 in Los Angeles in which Slash, guitarist of popular rock band Guns N' Roses (also signed to Geffen Records) played the songs Voodoo Chile and Red House with the band. Saul Hudson (born July 23, 1965), more widely known as Slash, is an English/American guitarist best known as the former lead guitarist of Guns N' Roses and as the current lead guitarist of Velvet Revolver. Known for wearing an accentuated top hat, he places high in numerous polls and is regarded by some as one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Guns N' Roses is an American hard rock band, formed in Los Angeles, California in 1985. The band has sold an estimated 90 million albums worldwide,[3] including 39 million in the United States.[4] Their 1987 major label debut, Appetite for Destruction, sold over 26 million copies worldwide and reached #1 in the United States.[5] The band's musical style, onstage presence and bad boy rock image helped usher in a new era of the dominant hard rock and heavy metal scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s. While glam metal was the leading genre in record sales, video charts and radio airplay, Guns N' Roses offered a grittier, more traditional take on rock music, and won many fans who admired their apparent authenticity. The band enjoyed worldwide success from 1988 to 1993, but clashing personalities of different band members led to the end of the core lineup. Today, frontman Axl Rose is the only original member left in the current Guns N' Roses line-up, having served as lead singer for twenty-two years and a pianist since 1990. Velvet Revolver (abbreviated to VR) is a hard rock supergroup with three former members of Guns N' Roses — Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum (who also played with rock bands Hawk and The Cult) — plus Scott Weiland, the lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots, and Dave Kushner of the 80s punk band Wasted Youth. Slash's Snakepit was a rock band formed by then-Guns N' Roses lead guitarist Slash in 1994. Fellow Guns N' Roses members Matt Sorum (drums), Gilby Clarke (rhythm guitar) were amoung the original members. On bass was Mike Inez of Alice in Chains and Eric Dover (who had previously played guitar for Jellyfish) sang lead vocals. guitar battle zakk - blood is thicker than water, in this river, sould my soul, life birth blood doom, devil's dime, bleed for me, counterfeit god, zakk wylde live guitar solo slash - knockin on heaven's door, welcome to the jungle, godfather theme, come on come in, been in there lately, sweet child o' mine, you could be mine, black label society velvet revolver Tags: Zakk Wylde Slash guitar solo shredding Ozzy Osbourne guns n' roses gibson les paul snakepit Axl |

The KKV (Kerry King V) is an electric guitar designed by Kerry King of Slayer for B.C. Rich guitars. Its shape was heavily influenced by the Gibson Flying V, hence the V in the name. B.C. Rich also offers a more expensive signature version that is exactly like King's and a cheaper tremolo-less Metal Master version. The guitar design is somewhat reminiscent of Kerry's tribal tattoos. Dimebag Darrell vs. Zakk Wylde Dimebag Darrell (born Darrell Lance Abbott on August 20, 1966 -- December 8, 2004),also known as Diamond Darrell until mid 1992, was the lead guitarist for the heavy metal bands Pantera, Damageplan and Rebel Meets Rebel. Pantera was formed in 1981 with Dimebag's brother Vinnie Paul on drums. The band officially split in 2003 due to conflicts between members. Phil Anselmo, in the throes of a heroin addiction, started lashing out at other members. Anselmo left the band for other projects, such as Superjoint Ritual and Down. After 2 years, brothers Vinnie and Dimebag eventually moved on and went on to form Damageplan. [edit] Other projects Shortly before singer Phil Anselmo joined Pantera, Darrell was invited to join the pre-Rust in Peace Megadeth by Dave Mustaine. According to both Darrell and Mustaine's telling, Darrell was willing to join, but insisted on Mustaine also hiring his brother Vinnie. When Mustaine found out that Vinnie was a drummer and replied that he had already hired Nick Menza, Darrell turned down his offer and stayed with Pantera. On and off between 1996 and the formation of Damageplan, the Abbott brothers and Pantera Bassist Rex Brown teamed up with country singer David Allan Coe for a project called Rebel Meets Rebel. Vinnie's favorite recorded Dime solo is on this album, part of the track "Get Out Of My Life". The album was released May 2, 2006 on Vinnie's "Big Vin Records" label. Dimebag played guest guitar solos on several Anthrax songs from their John Bush era: "King Size" & "Riding Shotgun" from Stomp 442, "Inside Out" & "Born Again Idiot" from Volume 8: The Threat Is Real, "Strap It On" and "Cadillac Rock Box" (with a voice intro from Dime as well) from We've Come for You All. In a recent interview Anthrax bassist Frank Bello said "Darrell was basically the sixth member of Anthrax". Dimebag also performed a solo on the titular track from King Diamond's Voodoo album. Additionally a sample of a Dime guitar solo has been put in the Nickelback song "Side of a Bullet". Shortly before Dime's death, he went into the studio with a band named Premenishen to do a guest solo on a track titled "Eyes of the South" [which coincidentally is the title of one of the songs featured on the debut album by Anselmo's project Down]. The band consists of two of Dime's cousins (bassist Heather Manly and guitarist April Adkisson). There was speculation that Dimebag and close friend Zakk Wylde would collaborate with Kerry King; however, nothing was confirmed. He was also confirmed as one of the original guitar player choices for Liquid Tension Experiment by Mike Portnoy.[1] Dimebag's musical roots were in Country Western music; he supported the local music scene in Dallas and would sometimes record with local musicians. On December 2, 2006 a very rare track of one of his collaborations was discovered. Dimebag sat in on a recording session with local Dallas musician "Throbbin Donnie" Rodd and recorded "Country Western Transvestite Whore". It features Dime on lead guitar and lead vocals. Dimebag and his Brother Vinnie-Paul along with Rex (during the Pantera Era) and Bobzilla (Damageplan Era) performed at their newyears party every year under the name "Gasoline". Dime, Vinnie and Rex also recorded a cover of the ZZTop song "Heard it on the X" under the band name "Tres Diablos" for ECW wrestling's "Extreme Music" soundtrack. Wylde's playing is characterised by his liberal use of pinch harmonics and the pentatonic scale. Wylde started playing the guitar at the age of 15 and worked at Silverton Music in Silverton, New Jersey. He grew up in Jackson and went to Jackson Memorial High School where he graduated from in 1985. Zakk has stated that he would practice playing the guitar as much as 12 hours per day and often would play the guitar almost non-stop between coming home from school and leaving for school the next morning, then sleeping through the school day. Growing up Wylde played locally with his first band, "Stone Henge", then later with local Jersey band "Zyris". Years later, the 20 year-old Wylde landed the coveted role as lead guitarist and co-writer for Ozzy Osbourne. He sent Ozzy a demo tape in 1987 and was hired to replace Jake E. Lee. zakk - sold my soul, bridge to cross, counterfeit god, life birth blood doom, devil's dime, blood is thicker than water, dime - cemetary gates, floods, drag the waters, mouth for war, i'm broken, cowboys from hell Tags: dimebagg darrell abbott zakk wylde guitar solo riffs pantera black label society BLS battle |
