Ronnie O'Sullivan - Snooker Genius Only seven maximum 147 breaks have ever been made in the history of the crucible, and here, this afternoon at around 2.30pm, Snooker Genius Ronnie O'Sullivan made his THIRD 147 at this venue. Needless to say, I was happy to get in in time to capture this amazing footage. ;) Tags: Ronnie O'Sullivan Snooker 147 record history crucible |

Bernard Herrmann - (lesser-known) Greatest Hits Think of this as a Bernard Herrmann greatest hits compilation, but using samples from his lesser-known scores - well, apart from the ones we already know so well, such as 'Psycho', 'Vertigo', 'North By Northwest' etc. Tags: Bernard Herrmann Film Music Samples Megamix Medley |

Frenzy (1972) - Potato Truck The necktie strangler (Barry Foster) gets in a pickle while disposing of his latest victim. Hitchcock's last great film is a gripping black comedy with fine performances, and a stirring and memorable score by Ron (633 Squadron, Where Eagles Dare) Goodwin. Hope this clip inspires a proper soundtrack too: http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/catalog/soundtrackdetail.php?movieid=23083 Tags: Frenzy Alfred Hitchcock Barry Foster Ron Goodwin |

Bernard Herrmann - Scoring Outtakes Short outtakes from the scoring session of the 50s film noir 'On Dangerous Ground' (composed by Bernard Herrmann). It's quite amusing listening to Herrmann lose his rag with the orchestra every time someone makes a mistake. ;) Tags: On Dangerous Ground Bernard Herrmann Score Outtakes |

HQ Test - Far Cry HQ test for a capture of 'Far Cry'. This one's just over 2mins and has more picture information, so more padding was necessary to get a decent quality video. You may also need to pause it for a while so it can load into cache. Tags: Far Cry Video Game HQ Test VMuTube |

Far Cry - Demo Loop The fantastic action-movie soundtrack music that is Far Cry's main menu (here on the demo loop), with the camera tracking around an area of the tropical island. I'm using Frifox's HQ method again here, but as expected, when the length is greater than 5mins or has lots of motion and picture information, the results aren't quite so good, so compromises with frame rates and resolutions have to be made. HQ Test - Half Life 2 Testing a new high quality method - using padding with blank space [the actual length is 1min] - to increase the displayed bitrate. Here, an example using a capture from 'Half Life 2'. Full credit (and thanks) for this method goes to user 'Frifox'. For more info on this HQ method, visit his group: http://www.youtube.com/group/VMuTube Demonstration video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UnQWdPhU8Y At the moment, the fixed bitrate for video on youtube is about 350kbs, so if L is the length of your video (in minutes), you can have a theoretical displayed bitrate of 350*(11/L) kbs. Frankie Boyle - At the Apollo Quite simply Frankie Boyle is one of the funniest, wittiest and sharpest comedians on TV at the moment. This is a small extract from his stand up routine at the Apollo, recorded live last year. If you watch 'Mock the Week', you probably know what to expect. ;) Apologies for the loss of frames in the video - yes, my screen capture sucks shit. heh heh. Raiden III PC version (Jap Import) - Level 1 Just some gameplay footage of level 1, on 'Arcade' difficulty. Awesome game - nice to see an old school shooter updated with modern graphics. I used a now defunct hex hack trick to bypass youtube's crappy fixed 350kbs rate, in order to maximise the quality of the video, but this also misleadingly shows it as having an 11min running time, when it is in fact about 3mins. Soldner-X - Trailer (High Quality) The trailer for Soldner-X, an 80s inspired, horizontally scrolling, arcade shoot 'em up, but in high quality, using a 'hex hack' method that has multiplied the displayed bit rate by six times. Put simply, this is the best version of the trailer on here, even better than the official one. But it has the slight disadvantage in that it will take longer to stream, but if you pause it for a minute, and allow the video to load into your computer's cache, it should stream perfectly after that. I'm just waiting on my copy of the game to arrive from Hong Kong. When it does, I'll put up some gameplay footage of my own. Drive to the Cemetery Just messing around with various video filters and FX in Ulead Video Studio 11. I had an hour to kill and some footage from my Samsung D75 shot around christmas, so here's the result. All the extra picture information from the filters and FX would normally play havoc with youtube's maximum 350Kb/s rate compression, resulting in crappy picture quality; but I recently found out about a loophole associated with their sorenson flash video format, which can be exploited to increase the displayed bit rate: http://forum.videohelp.com/topic336882.html If L is the actual length of your video in minutes, using this 'hex hack' method will multiply the displayed bit rate by a factor (11/L). The only drawback is you lose the ability to choose a thumbnail for your video. Music track is 'A Night on Bald Mountain' by Modest Mussorgsky; goes well with cemeteries, I think. ArmA - Airwolf Test Flight 2 More ArmA airwolf action, this time from the point of a view of a 'commander', following some waypoints. 384x288 mov test for samsung d75 capture Footage captured at 640x480 and 30 frames per second, but uploaded as a 384x288 mov, with mpeg4 encoding. Doesn't look too bad I suppose, given that the original 640x480 mov version was 200Mb+ in size. There also seems to be more contrast than the 640x480 Zune wmv I uploaded earlier, before binning. I do wish youtube would give us more bitrate to play with than this shitty fixed 350kbs rate. For crying out loud, I download mp3 tracks at 320kbs!!!! Even a poxy 500kbs rate would make a world of difference. Tags: samsung d75 video capture birds garden wildlife jungle |

ArmA - Airwolf in time lapse Just a brief demonstration of the nice night time textures in Xavier Petit's ArmA Airwolf mod, by using the 'skiptime' command to simulate time lapse - skipping 24 hours in 36s in this case, and using some elementary camera scripting. ArmA - Airwolf Test Flight Same jazz as last year, only this time in Arma. Xavier Petit has updated his RANAirwolf from OFP: http://www.armedassault.info/index.php?cat=addons&id=166 But this is a first Beta version. It works just fine (and has some nice night time textures too, not seen here), but has one critical bug, in that the crew are not supported, and if you try to put in a non-empty Airwolf in the mission editor, the whole game will crash to the desktop. So, I had to use other crew from the 'Independent' side, which I guess is the Arma version of the 'Resistance' in OFP. Command actions are also in French(?) and there's no script commands supplied for using an AI controlled Airwolf. The landing gear will not extend before landing - I had to do that while I was making this video, so script commands would have been useful. Ok, I can probably get the information by opening the .pbo file, but it would have made life easier. But these are just minor gripes with what is otherwise a first class mod. It is for now the ONLY Airwolf mod for Armed Assault. Music courtesy of Sweden.
