Hodges Texas Tornado Here we have the Hodges twister in all its photogenic glory. As it roped out the funnel snaked across the sky and over the heads of some of the chasers who were filming it. May 13th, 1989 Filmed by (Charles Doswell or Dave Hoadley, I'm not sure. If anyone knows for certain please let me know so I can give proper credit!) Waurika Oklahoma Tornado This tornado is usually seen on older twister documentaries. It occurred in Waurika, Oklahoma on May 30th, 1976. It was viewed by many chasers and filmed from different angles, which is why it's very dark in some images, and quite light in others. Not the best quality but viewable, at least. Kinda reminds me of the Perrin AFB tornado at around 1:06. MEOWARCHY V: Dawn of the Apocatlypse It's finally here: the fifth installment of the famed Meowarchy series. Veering away from the more experimental feel of Meowarchys III and IV, Dawn of the Apocatlypse takes us back to Meowarchy's roots (Demon Cats) where the pace was fast and the Mad Editing was abundant. It's old-school Meowarchy at its finest. **Though I didn't use her suggested name, which was Meowarchy V: Meowpocalypse, BabyDollClaire pretty well set the tone for M5's apocalyptic theme. Thank you! Caruthersville Missouri Tornado High School Security Camera April 2nd, 2006 (No Audio) Here we have footage of the Caruthersville tornado. This time around the location of the security camera is a high school. The camera, mounted on the wall of the building, gives an awesome view of the road and the total chaos that ensues when the F4 twister passes by. Again, the first clip is at normal speed, the second is slowed. Tags: Tornado Caruthersville Missouri high school security camera environment |

Leighton Alabama Tornado Security Cameras May 9th, 2008 (no audio) A friend sent me a load of clips of twisters captured on security cameras (including my last upload) and I've kinda had some fun doing the slow-mo editing. This time we go to Leighton Alabama where security cameras recorded a tornado ripping through a parking lot and taking some cars with it. There are two angles, and again, the first is normal speed and the second is slowed. This twister was rated EF-2 and was on the ground for around 10 miles. Parkersburg, Iowa Tornado Security Cameras May 25th, 2008 (No audio; sorry, had to re-upload this one) Another clip for my list of awesome 21st century twisters. The security cameras in this bank captured the complete chaos as the tornado struck. There are four angles, each with two different versions. The first clips are at normal speed, and the ones after are at a considerably reduced speed so you can see it in detail. This is probably what people would experience in their houses the moment an EF-5 tornado passes through. This bank was completely leveled. Alfalfa Oklahoma Tornado #1 May 22nd, 1981 No audio Here's Alfalfa Oklahoma Tornado #1, quite a bit smaller than #2 (which formed quickly after this one roped out). For those not familiar with this specific outbreak, the flash in the upper-right a few seconds in is a rocket probe. I suppose firing flimsy rockets into tornadoes seemed like a good idea 30 years ago. This tornado was a member of a very interesting, intensely-studied family, which included the "Wizard of Oz" tornado in Cordell, the F4 Binger tornado, and of course Alfalfa #2. Perrin Air Force Base Texas Tornado April 18, 1957 Colour, no audio One of my personal favourites. The creepiest twister footage out there but also the most beautiful. This is colour film of a twister crossing Perrin Air Force Base in Texas. Note the planes in the foreground during various parts of the film. The First Radar-Detected Hook Echo April 9th, 1953 B&W, no audio Captured by chance by the Illinois State Water Survey on a radar they were testing out. Hook echoes are distinct projections which depict on radar imminent tornadic activity. This was a historic moment in the advancement of meteorological technology. The echo seen here shows the development of a tornado in Champaign, Illinois. Tourettes Guy: Shitfest Precisely what the title suggests. He is probably letting loose with piles (pun fully intended) of verbal "shit" in Heaven. I'd been tooling around with this edit for months, adding bits here and there when I had the time. Since my other Tourettes Guy edit became an unexpected hit, (and more importantly due to his passing), I decided to transform this into a tribute "mad edit" to an Internet legend who was unexpectedly taken from us. Of course, all the credit goes to Danny and those who maintain his website. Stuff of this caliber is a Mad Editor's pot of gold. The Many Faces of the Wichita/Andover Tornado April 26th, 1991 Some audio Here's a "super-edit", if you will, of this most notorious twister. Most clips are silent (for dramatic effect), a couple are not. Among the various clips: - full footage of the twister's trek through McConnell AFB - Famous "tornado/rainbow" shot - Husband filming tornado as wife goes ballistic. Many others, too. The First Tornado Ever Filmed Cuba, 1933 B&W, No audio The Corn, OK tornado of 1951 was a milestone, but contrary to popular belief, it wasn't the first twister caught on film (though it was the first in the US). The first recorded tornado (at least that anyone has unearthed thus far) in world history was almost two decades earlier. In 1933 a small vortex was filmed in Cuba. It took the form of both tornado and waterspout. Tags: tornado waterspout cuba 1933 environment vintage film |
