Here it'll be just two electric guitars, harmonica and drums! We'll offer the dirty swingin' gritty groove of Hound Dog Taylor, Lightnin' Hopkins, Howlin' Wolf and their likes to name some influences! Down home blues for sure!! Be prepared to jump, laugh and boogie... With a heavily distorted, highly amplified electric sound that swaps the standard time-keeping of a bassist for the more propulsive chug of a rhythm guitar player, we'll bring the grimy juke-joint boogie back to the fore. Blues by the riverside.. Northern Swedish Scenery Blues!! Here's me and my buddies Lars and Stefan playing a tune on the old bridge across the river, what's left of the bridge anyway.. Nice place!! I play the Resolian from Republic Guitars. Lars struggled to keep the heavy steel mandolin in a good playing position, LoL!! This was filmed on September 1st, the same evening we filmed the '31 Chevy Blues and at the Old railroad bridge clips... 1931 Chevrolet Blues..!! Me and my friends found us an old vintage Chevy!!! 1931 is the year and it's an amazing car/truck, felt great to play some tunes on it!! We took some pics for use on CD covers and posters, so of course we had to tune our instruments and play!! The mando is truly a "note-cannon"... I play without picks here and it's not easy to be heard next to a reso-mandolin, haha!!!! Vintage Swedish made guitar from 1932.. Levin modell 212 C 1932!! Just for fun my friends, I'd like to present some of the vintage acoustic instruments that I collect. A swedish brand called "LEVIN" Was named Goya in the US.. I got a WHOLE lot of these old ones and I'll post a video here now and then.. On 27 July 1900, Herman Carlson Levin began building his wonderful stringed instruments in a small workshop in Gothenburg. My great passion is collecting these instruments that, to my eyes (and ears), were some of the best guitars ever built.. Certainly, many people today know of Levin for its fine old arch-top guitars or its plainer and not quite so fine-sounding beginners' instruments from the 50s and 60s. But long before this, Levin was top of its class in Europe and other parts of the world. It already achieved a high-point as an instrument maker at the 1907 World's Fair in Madrid, where it won the gold medal for the best guitar. Remember, this was in the Spanish guitar builders' home territory. Not only that, Levin was awarded the exhibition's Grand Prix. Resonatin' - a little sound demo!! Reso-regards everyone!! I've been thinking for a while to take my resonator guitars, line them up and record some clips to let y'all know they differ in sound, size etc.. My Republics, Amistars, a National Duolian and a cheapo SX(spiderbridge).. All played without picks here! (though some of them really need picks to sound to their max potential..) Just a fun experiment y'all..!!! The Duolian sounds fat and nice even though it has the lightest strings of all guitars, 0.10's..!! The slide I use here is a "The Ultimate" from Diamond Slides, UK.. (They make awesome glass slides!!) And folks.. These guitars doesn't sound better or worse, just different, LoL!!!! The RESOLIAN - From Republic Guitars.. Sound sample # 2..!! The RESOLIAN!! Here's a really nice new guitar model from Texas-based Republic Guitars.. Reso-relic finish, looks like a polished nickel model that has been hidden in an old tool shed for 70 years, LoL!!!! Tuning: Open D (Just jammin' here folks..) Slide used: "The Ultimate" lead chrystal from Diamond Bottlenecks, UK.. Just wanted to make a video showing the new Resolian, I've had it for about an hour here and it's straight outta the box!! LoL!! The neck profile is brand new for Republic and it actually feels like the neck on my old 1933 Duolian!! The headstock specs also differs from the older Republic guitars specs.. I LIKE it a lot!! Much fatter neck and slightly wider too.. The tone is amazingly rich for the body size, easily compared to it's bigger brothers.. Volume is great too, looking forward very much to get this one along for a gig(will happen tomorrow..) So just for fun, here's a short "simple sound sample" of the model "Miniolian" the wood bodied parlor sized reso-guitar.. It has a GREAT sound, less bass and volume than it's bigger bodied brothers in the reso-family, but the sustain is amazing and the neck and body size is very, very nice!!!! More clips featuring the Republic Miniolian to come.. (Never mind my playing here though, this is a clip from a lesson in beginners slide guitar that I teach.. Simple, clean, plain and moderate...) Resonatin' - Bottleneck John & Brian Kramer Folks, first of all.. This clip should NOT be regarded as a video clip really, haha!! It was filmed with a cell-phone camera, way too dark, but the sound came out quite ok.. There, with all that said: This is BJ and Brian Kramer jammin' at the Acoustic Nite at Stampen, Old Town, Stockholm, Sweden! I'm playing my Republic Miniolian(in open A) and BK's playing a Gibson Songwriter model.. A great crowd was there and we had a blast!! Once again, sorry about the poor images but you could always close your eyes for a while and just listen..
