Exotic Animals- Why They Shouldn't Be Kept as Pets This is a remake of one of my older videos. Learn about the cruelties that shroud exotic animal ownership. Exotic animal ownership in no way helps to save animals, as many owners will argue. Owning an animal that should be free doesn't constitute as conservation, and is truly of no value to the species. Others argue that the animals have never seen freedom, so how could they miss it? That statement clearly shows that they, to some degree acknowledge life is better for the animals in the wild. And true, an animal may not have experienced freedom. That does not mean it will live a happy life in captivity. The argument against exotic pet ownership is backed by facts, and many of the world's renowned animal supporters and activists. Please spread the word with me, as so many people still do not know about this. Tell people you know, and boycott places that support the selling or buying of exotic animals as pets. Anything you do can make a difference- set up awareness events, contact your local media station to do an investigation, perhaps of a local breeder or auction. Create and share videos that highlight the truth. Many pet stores actually sell tiger cubs to people. This in itself should be a crime. Especially when you know how those animals get to the pet stores in the first place... There is also no such thing as a "responsible" breeder of wild animals. No animal should be born for a life in a cage, especially with the ever climbing number of exotic animals without homes. Many will end up in roadside zoos and menageries, where they will be bred for their cubs, until their use is up. Why create more tigers and other animals when so many need help? It's a parallel to the pet overpopulation crisis. We need to support real conservation efforts- not backyard breeders who claim to be helping by giving cubs to anyone who asks, or those who auction the cubs to the highest bidder. No animals are being saved here. But thousands are being hurt and thrown into deplorable situations. While this video uses solely images of exotic cats, be aware that these facts ring true for the other exotic animals- including but not limited to wolves, bears, and any hybrid animals as well. These animals need better laws. Please contact your State Legislature and urge for better laws protecting exotic animals kept as pets. Haley's Act- HR1947 EDIT: I have been getting an increasing number of hate mail about this video, from the exploiters upset that this may make them lose money. I have disabled ratings, but they will be back as soon as the hate messages stop. The lengths abusers go to... it's so sad! Haley's Act will bring change for animals that are suffering and being exploited in zoos and roadside attractions. Here, many places allow public contact with big cats (cubs in particular, adult big cats are illegal to come in contact with but it happens A LOT). It's ridiculous, and many people have been hurt during these encounters. Not to mention that many places that use tiger cubs and other young animals will often discard them once they reach the age and weight limit that the USDA requires in order for the interaction to be allowed. No education is gained from petting a tiger. We only gain pain in the long run. Please contact your state legislature and urge them to support HR1947- if not for the animals, then for the people who have been hurt and killed just to pet or have their picture taken with a big cat. This is made to appeal to those that may not care so much about the cats but who will care about the people. If you care about the cats, this will most likely appeal to you as well though. If I make another, it will be about all the animals who have been hurt and killed through animal-human interactions, and why this act will benefit them. How about pay an adoption fee and ADOPT! Remember, every animal you adopt is "one less" that will get euthanized. Please support your local no-kill shelters. This, in turn, will enable them to rescue more animals from kill shelters in your area, but you AREN'T paying the kill shelters, who use a lot of the money for euthanasia. Instead, you are helping to lighten the kill shelters load. Inadvertantly, you can actually save more animals by rescuing from a no-kill than a kill. These animals need you. The Cruelty Behind Tiger Farming Tiger farming is a disgusting practice of keeping tigers locked up in horrible conditions to be used later and killed for their fur, bones, and body parts. The only country that does this is China. Tiger parts have been used in Chinese medicines, wines, and other things for ages, and tigers have always been thought to have some sort of spiritual value by them. Still, tiger parts shouldn't be used by them. Tigers are an endangered animal, and are being wiped off the face of the earth! The medicines don't work, and the wine and other products do nothing either. Nothing, at all, other than take the life of a beautiful animal. Cameron the Lion and Zabu the White Tiger Cameron and Zabu arrived at Big Cat Rescue together, from a roadside zoo in New England. When the zoo shut down, these cats had nowhere to go! Luckily Big Cat Rescue was able to save them. Both are fixed, so no accidental breeding will occur. Big Cat Rescue tries very hard to educate people about the white tiger. White tigers aren't a species, and are very inbred creatures. Most don't survive, and of those that do, most are so deformed that they are deemed unsuitable for display and are discarded in one of many cruel ways.
