The Maltese Falcon - Haunted Studios Original Last year our Original Maltese Falcon starred in the Warner Brothers Documentary "The Maltese Falcon: One Magnificent Bird" with a number of other well known Hollywood stars. Here are some photos of our Falcon and its friends. We have been the Original Source for this "dingus" since it came into my hands in 1963. I "snatched" it from the set of the Steve Allen Show when they were clearing out hand props in 1963. It was given to me by Johnny Wilson, the show's floor director. Bela Lugosi Dracula Ring Universal Monsters Here are some shots of replica Lugosi Dracula Rings we have sold over the years at The Haunted Studios. The original ring was worn by Lon Chaney JR, John Carradine, Bela Lugosi, and finally Forrest J. Ackerman. A somewhat simpler version of the ring was worn by Christopher Lee in a number of the Hammer Dracula films. Tags: Dracula Ring Lugosi Universal Monsters Famous |

Lewis Marvin of Moonfire on The Joe Pyne Show 1966 1966 was a good year for television. Here we have my old friend Lewis Marvin appearing in the "beef box" of all places on the Joe Pyne Show. Lewis was a kind, but somewhat confused, prototype vegan. I spent many nights at his Moonfire happenings from 1966 to 1968 doing art for peace and it was a great time. Lewis was from a wealthy east coast family [The S & H Green Stamp fortune] but walked away from it all for peace and animal rights work. When he died in Panama in 2005 it was a loss to us all. Queen of The House - Jody Miller's Biggest Hit Song Jody Miller performs her biggest 1960s hit song on Shivaree. In 1965, she released an answer record to Roger Miller's blockbuster hit "King of the Road," titled "Queen of the House" (which became her signature hit, peaking at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and at number 5 on the country singles chart). Shivaree went all out on this one, actually bringing in some "house" props for Jody to dust! Tags: Shivaree Roger Jody Miller 60s 1965 Billboard |

Crazy Downtown - Allan Sherman on Shivaree Allan Sherman produced some of the finest song parodies of all time in the early 1960s. "Crazy Downtown" was a step in a different direction for him; it was a parody of a current hit song in 1965. It was his second biggest seller, but only released as a 45 single, it was not included in any of his American albums. The story has always been that the royalties involved made its inclusion impossible, and dissuaded Allan from other parodies of current hits. When Sherman died in 1973 America lost one of its great comedic voices. Tags: Allan Alan Allen Alen Sherman Comedy Parody Wierd Al |

Dream Baby - Cher on Shivaree Dream Baby, from Cher's Imperial Label solo album, was her first minor hit without Sonny. It was very much in the Phil Spector tradition and did not too poorly. Great performance on Shivaree. Tags: Cher Dream Baby 60s 1965 |

SIMON AND GARFUNKEL on Hollywood a Go Go SOUNDS OF SILENCE Well now, Sam Riddle comes off like he doesn't even believe Paul and Art are the real names of our heros....cute bit, but at the time Sam was the top DJ, or should I say Boss Jock, on 93 KHJ Boss Radio, so he knew them well. Not the best quality, but this is a very rare clip, hope you enjoy it if you don't remember it! Tags: 60s folk music |

The Turtles on Hollywood a Go Go One of the MOST misunderstood bands of the 60s, The Turtles were always a blast in person. Some of the best times of that era were dancing to these nuts! Danny Hutton "Roses and Rainbows" Shivaree 1965 Danny Hutton 4 years prior to Three Dog Night sings his minor hit son Roses and Rainbows. This song was the first triple-tracked vocal to "hit" drawing the attention and respect of Beach Boy's Brian Wilson. Brian was said to have recognized Danny as an equal in the studio. Bo Diddly on Hollywood a Go Go, Again! Bo is back, this time with the full introduction and "bio" provided by show host KHJ Radio's "Boss Jock" Sam Riddle. Great song, but the evening is getting late and Bo misses quite a few of his lip sync cues, but still a great piece of history from one of the greatest rock performers of all time. Bo Diddly on Hollywood a Go Go Great Bo Diddly clip here. Mr D had just performed live on KHJ-TV's 9th Street West dance show. As soon as the show was off air the crew pulled back the curtains to reveal.....the Hollywood a Go Go set. They were able to get two more performances out of man for the same scale performance payment. Note that other than Bo and the dancers the studio is empty. Good quality clip from a 16mm kinescope. The Four Tops JUST ASK THE LONELY - Shivaree - A classic clip from Motown's finest. Sorry about the TC window, I know I have a clean copy somewhere but right now it is at large.
