Avatar - U Can't Touch This So I've looked at the 10-12 or so "U Can't Touch This" videos for Avatar and most of them were lacking. None were at the right tempo, and one actually had its timing thrown off by youtube, making it that much more painful to watch. At first I was in another fun mood when I thought of this, then I saw the other videos and got a little more serious with it. Azula, Ty Lee, and Mai - Into the Night So, I dunno if anyone else has, but I've officially dubbed the trio of girls from the Fire Nation as the Angels of Fire. They're some of the most loveable villains I've ever seen in a series. They're also the most deadly and graceful. My favorite is Ty Lee, but Mai and Azula are tied for second. Because of that quality of being so likeable, I wanted to make a video about them that captured their role and, even moreso, their energy. I feel like I caught it with this song, "Into the Night" by Carlos Santana and Chad Kroeger. Zuko - Let the Flames Begin I recently started watching Avatar - The Last Airbender and, yeah, it's a great series. It took me a while to get around to watching it, but I finally have. I was looking for music to try to make some more AMVs and my older sister is a fan of Paramore, so I randomly went with them and found "Let the Flames Begin." After looking over the lyrics, I found the character the words fit with the most was Zuko. Hopefully I managed to capture him in this video. Parn - Like Father, Like Son Hey, all. So I was just reflecting one night before I did this video and I realized that we don't really hear too much about Parn's father, Tessius, but it is constantly driven home that the man was an influential figure despite our never seeing him. We don't know what happened, we don't know what he did until quite late in the series. The first thing we hear about him was that he was a disgrace. With this video I really wanted to establish how Parn felt about his father by trying to make it so palpable that a viewer couldn't help but feel the same way, then I went on to how Parn developed into who he became by the end of the series by pretty much showing him as a boy with next to no idea what he was doing with a sword developing into an adult. He is not nearly so naive as he was in the beginning. Hopefully I accomplished that. Let me know what you think. Record of Lodoss War - The Accursed Isle So I recently got re-hooked onto the nearly-two-decades old OVA series "Record of Lodoss War." It was the second anime I had ever watched when I was in the sixth grade, and ever since then it's been my favorite. The animation isn't great compared to what we have these days, but that's just one elment of many that makes it a great series in my book. So anyways, I am also a big fan of Blind Guardian, even before their stints with the Lord of the Rings productions. When I heard this song "The Age of False Innocence" it left a thick feeling of irony on me, and so I thought I'd try to apply it to this anime. Several days and video-makers' blocks later, here's the final product. Chances are you'll be seeing a few more of this combo from me. Rate it and let me know what you think. Devil May Cry - 5th Symphony So I just recently got totally hooked onto 'Devil May Cry.' Honestly, one day I was kinda bored with the anime that I knew and just typed in "Anime Episode 1" into the youtube search box and I found at least 4 or 5 that caught my attention and kept it. This was by far the most siezing series of those. I really wanted to make a video to this anime that I didn't know existed (I'd never heard of the games until I saw the anime, either. I know, crazy right?). The only problem was that I didn't have anything to work with that fit the anime, and then I had an ingenious thought: Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I actually didn't have any of their music on my computer, having lost the files on another computer and just not re-downloading them. I found 5th Symphony and thought it definitely fit the bill, at least compared to all the other stuff I had. Last element, my videos are notorious for being littered with subtitles, so I tried to keep them out of this video. It cost me a LOT of great scenes and clips, but I'm thrilled about how it turned out despite that. There was only one subtitle, toward the end, but I couldn't really avoid it. Yumichika - Filthy/Gorgeous I've been wanting to do a Yumichika video for a while now and I couldn't find the right song. My twin was listening to the band Scissor Sisters one night and I heard "Filthy Gorgeous" and instantly thought of Yumichika, the most vain character in Bleach. This video was easy in the beginning, but by the last 30 or so seconds I was actually running out of useful Yumichika clips. He just doesn't get enough air time. Ashido and Rukia - Amaranth Enjoy. I heard Amaranth about three or four days after we met Ashido in Bleach and I instantly thought of him as a possible subject to work with in a music video using this song. I hope you like the final product, all. An amaranth is technically considered a weed, but it is prized for its beauty and longevity. The name comes from the Greek "Amarantos", meaning "one that does not wither". I felt it a good match since Ashido had been a death god in the Forest of Menos for hundreds of years, yet still strongly believes in his duty to continue his work as a death god by killing as many hollows as he can. The desire and sense of duty are so strong even though all his friends and comrades were killed. He never gave up. The amaranth has been a symbol of everlasting beauty and immortality, alluded to by Milton in Paradise Lost and in Aesop's fables in such a fashion. Thanks. Sakura - No Fear Gotta say this is my favorite that I've made. When I first started watching Shippuden and saw Sakura tearing up the ground I was pretty much like Kakashi and completely dumbstruck at how much her character seemed to have changed in the break. Where before she was for the most part in the background as far as combat, now she's self-sufficient, self-confident and kicks some major ass with flare! Gotta say I was inspired and this song fit the bill. I looked on youtube to see how many No Fear videos had been made to Sakura's new role and I was surprised that there were none that I could find as of the time I uploaded this amv. Senna - It's Only The Fairy Tale So I finally watched Memories of Nobody and Senna was my favorite by far. She was just one of those characters you just fall in love with within seconds of meeting her in the story. I decided to make a video and came up with this using Yuki Kajiura's song "It's Only the Fairy Tale." When I first heard the song I thought it sounded like it would fit Senna's character since she really does have a very sad role in the movie. Rock Lee X Theme This is my comeback video. After a good many months of having a computer that could no longer create movies, I finally got a new laptop, then two months after that I finally figured out how to publish videos without having half the displayh screen come up half green. Renji - What I've Done This concentrates on Renji's past with Rukia and how he wants to repair their relationship that once fell apart. This song is a regret song, and regret makes up a major part of Renji. He regrets the competitiveness he made in his friendship with Rukia. He regrets that they split apart, that she's been sentenced to death, that he believes it is all because of a human that he couldn't kill, and that he could not become powerful enough to surpass Byakuya to save her. This entire video is a culmination of the events leading up to the fight with Byakuya with periodic glimpses in the 'present', such as the first picture of him running, when he leaves the shinigami he knocked out behind, when he looks up at Byakuya, and when he fights Byakuya The reason I include Renji's past history is that even though it's not entirely based with Rukia during the academy days (i.e. Mission with Hinamori and Kira) it is to offer a more solid base. Each fight I picked was good where it was since each opponent was in some way a reflection of himself. Fight 1 with Ichigo: both are headstrong and cocky young Death Gods who were wholly unable to see the big picture. Fight 2 with Ichigo: Both possess guilty consciences for Rukia's fate and they both share a desire to save her from execution, though neither of them have any idea how they can do that. Fight with Byakuya: He's been trying to surpass Byakuya since he realized what happened with his friendship with Rukia. Ikkaku and Kenpachi - I'll Make A Man Out of You Pretty much a randomly clicked a link to another Bleach AMV using this same song, "I'll Make a Man Out of You" sung by the young Captain during boot camp in Mulan (awesome awesome movie). I was inspired by that video and made one with Ikkaku as the subject. Ikkaku's one of my favorite characters and I had yet to make a video about him. Seriously, as soon as I heard this song again it was Madarame Ikkaku that popped into my head as the best match to it (no clue how it works, it just does).
