Prithvi Theater in Mumbai The Prithvi Theater was established as a touring theater in 1944 by Prithviraj Kapoor, the father of famous Raj, Shammi and Shashi Kapoor. It ceased operation in 1960. Then in 1978 (and in memory of Prithviraj), Shashi Kapoor and his wife, Jennifer, established the theater in the Juhu area, its current location as seen in this clip. Jogyesa Buddhist Temple -- South Korea 2005 This footage was taken by Wafaa' Al-Natheema in Seoul, S. Korea in August 2005 when she participated in the Peace Festival beyond the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Our Institute was contracted to arrange for two Iraqi musicians living in Jordan to perform with the National Police University Orchestra at the Peace Festival and also to perform a concert of Iraqi music. Ms. Al-Natheema performed poetry and songs at this festival and, upon return to the USA, wrote a detailed report about the festival and her personal account, which can be accessed at http://www.INEAS.org/specialreports.htm#korea When their engagement ended, Wafaa had two additional days before departure during which she took extensive footage of Seoul and other areas. Shammi Kapoor in Aye Gulbadan from the Film "Professor" This is the fourth song from the 1962 movie, "Professor" starring Shammi Kapoor, Kalpana and Lalita Pawar. The movie was produced by F. C. Mehra and directed by Lekh Tandon. The film's music was by Shankar Jaikishan. It was Shammi Kapoor's best acting role. He deserved a FilmFare Award for acting in this film, but strangely and unfortunately did not win the 'best actor' award! S. Korean Peace Festival beyond the DMZ 2005, P1 This is the first piece in a 1.5-hour concert performed on August 27, 2005 by the National Police University Orchestra at the S. Korean Peace Festival beyond the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). The Peace Festival lasted for 40 days from early August to September 11, 2005 and was attended by more than forty countries including Iraq, Palestine, Romania, the UK and the USA. Wafaa' Al-Natheema video taped the entire Orchestra performance, which can be obtained from the Institute of Near Eastern & African Studies (INEAS). The original video footage is in excellent quality. Rashid is a scholar in music history and currently live with his German wife, son and two daughter in Leipzig. Phone Interview with Mahmood Ibrahim Adham This interview was conducted in Arabic over the phone by Wafaa' on November 18, 07. Mahmood Ibrahim Adham was born in 1937in Baghdad. After earning a bachelor degree in Physics, he taught in the most reputable schools of Baghdad. This reason added to the fact that he gave private tutoring to hundreds of students, was an excellent physics teacher and gave lectures at the Baghdad High School for girls in 1972 and 1973, made him the most famous teacher in Baghdad in the 1970s. From 1964 to 1972, he taught at Mansour High School for boys. Then he taught at Baghdad College from 1973till his retirement in 1990. He currently resides in Baghdad with his two sons and wife.
