Gold Camp Road, Cheyenne Canon, High Drive, Colorado Springs This video compresses a 45-minute drive into a 15-minute spin through the scenery of North Cheyenne Canon in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Gold Camp Road. The first part of the video features Gold Camp Road. Gold Camp Road is now what was once The Short Line Railroad bed that stretched from Cripple Creek to Colorado Springs. Gold was brought down from the mining camp on The Short Line. The drive takes you through two railroad tunnels, multiple rock cuts and over old trestles with sheer drop offs into the canyon below. It winds for over 30 miles but due to tunnel cave ins along the route, you have to drive it in sections. This is the short section of the road that is accessible from town. You can drive all the way through to Cripple Creek if you begin on Old Stage Road (which criss-crossed the rail bed multiple times), and bypass the caved in tunnels. The second half of the video takes place on the High Drive, an old carriage road from the 1800s. Old Railroad Tunnel No. 9, Gold Camp Road, Cripple Creek, CO This is Tunnel #9, one of 9 tunnels on the Gold Camp Road, which used to be the Short Line Railroad from Cripple Creek to Colorado Springs, Colorado. This tunnel is outside the ghost town of Clyde and right before Cathedral Park. Canon HV20 High Definition HD Videocamera Test Footage Just got a Canon HV20 High Definition videocamera and went to the Cripple Creek Mining District to shoot my first footage. The pine cone/tree footage came out crystal clear, even though the branches were swinging in the wind. I tested the zoom on the elk running up the mountain. I went from complete zoom in to complete zoom out and you can see how well the Image Stablizer works. The old train tunnel shows the low-light ability. I was in complete darkness in that tunnel and when I tilted to the ceiling of the tunnel you could still see well, although some graininess appears. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with the camera. Offroading Yankee Boy Basin, Ouray, Colorado Heading up Yankee Boy Basin, outside Ouray, Colorado, in my Jeep. Features beautiful scenery, steep dropoffs and a gorgeous waterfall (featured in the old Coors commercials) beneath 14,150-foot Mt. Sneffels.
