We deployed to the middle east in operation Desert Shield as a battallion landing team with the 5th marine expeditionary brigade (I was 1st tank, 1st marine). We were told it was the biggest amphibious landing force since Vietnam. It was very hot during the day, and it was very cold at night and the bot flies bit us like their was no tomorrow. Our Battallion had one big fight, that was in Al-wafrah, I cried for my mother but I endured, on the way home we thought, GREAT, were free, BUT: Operation Sea Angel was in our midst, we had to deliver food and supplies to Bangladesh after their Cyclone, we gave them everything and we subsisted on rice and bullion for a month, because we gave them our food and medicals. Their is no job too big or small for the marines.
