Re: PHOTO COMPETITION TIME! 'Slight rule change' (Last day August 17, 2008) Entry 1 for KurtGnu's Photo Contest. (I must have been thinking ahead because the dates should read Aug 6th and 7th) Be sure to enter and have fun taking your shots, I know I did! All photos taken August 8th and 9th, 2008 by myself. 1. A Flower. I don't know my flowers names but I really liked this shot because of how the sky sets off the background and how different the flower looks at twilight when it's closed. 2. A Wall I have to say I wasn't sure what to do with this. I really liked how the lettering for this "No Parking" sign was done on the brick wall. 3. Music Instrument Although I have some music instruments at home I really liked this display at a local pawn shop. I wanted a good picture of the black and gold saxaphone by itself but the window glare was too much so I included the horn in the photo. 4. Animal While walking through the park I found this hive of wasps on a light post. I had to get about 6 inches from them with my camera to take this shot. 5. Transportation This is a shot of a War Memorial Tank located at Johnny Appleseed Park near where I live. I've taken lots of pictures of this tank over the years and this is perhaps the most abstract. 6. Banana I wanted to add a bit of humor to this picture of a banana. As you'll see in the video it turned out pretty good. Though you can't read the entire label it states: "Emergency Banana In case of starvation break glass Warning: If banana turns brown, then black, then begins to mold, it may not be safe for consumption." To my regular subscribers: I wish I had heard about this before two days ago. I would have liked to have done more, but time just didn't permit. All in all I think it turned out pretty good. I purposely didn't check out the other videos before creating mine because I didn't want to fall into the trap of using their ideas. I have had a chance to view most of the videos (while this was uploading) and there are some really great entries. I was a bit surprised that many of the elements in my video were found in other videos. I guess we had similar ideas on the direction of the video. My favorites are by Kup2you, Troystar, Greatgig1, Markshyers, and ChipotlePictures. Check them all out. They worked hard on their videos and it shows. I wish I had adobe to create videos like Kup2you's. I especially liked how Kup2you used 3D space to make the flaming war on war segment. You'll know what I mean when if you see it. Motorway Tutorial Part 1 - Light Rays and Masking For those of you who have asked for some more advanced features I am going to break down the Motorway Video into segments of how I did each aspect. If your not into the tutorials turn away now, this is long winded but I think clear enough to understand. For this first video I go over how I did the car lights which you see throughout the video. I explain how to use anchoring, part of the event pan crop feature, and go into depth with using the light rays effect. It's important to know that I credit montagical for his tutorial on anchoring. I had never used the feature prior to this video and trust me when I say it is one of the most useful tools availible.
