Revolt of the Anti-Imperialist Zombies Straightforward clips from "Revolt of the Zombies" (1936). No tricky editing, just scenes from the start and end of the movie. I assume it's public domain based on the number of cheap dvds this movie appears on from different companies, priced too low for anyone to be receiving royalties from it. I read that the intense eyes shown every time the zombie master pwns a new minion are taken from shots of Bela Lugosi in White Zombie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0028174/maindetails Tags: revolt anti-imperialist zombies imperialism racism 1936 |

The Day The Glasses Came Off In space, no one can hear your lips saying, "no, no," but they can see your eyes saying, "yes, yes!" No John Belushis, Karen Blacks or Jason Alexanders were harmed in the making of this mashup, nor did they appear in it. That's actually Paul Naschy as Belushi as the Wolf Man, Essie Lin Chia as Karen Black as the Cat-Tossing Ninja, and Glen Gordon as Jason Alexander as Dr. Fu Manchu. Nibbler vs. The Sons of Batman (live action Futurama 1960) No Nibblers or Batmen were harmed in the making of this mashup. Excerpts are from the following public domain movies: Atomic Rulers of the World (1964) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057860/ Evil Brain from Outer Space (1964) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058072/ The Manster (1962) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055139/ The Doomsday Machine (1972) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061592/ Alien Contamination (1980) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082000/ His Girl Friday (1940) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032599/ The superhero character is called "Super Giant" in Japan, or "Starman" in the edited English versions. I hope his unicorn antenna shows up clearly in these clips. ** Can someone tell me why the last five seconds in some of my videos (showing the still image and music) are cut off when they are processed by youtube, but in other videos youtube does not trim them during processing? It's exactly the same image and music. The only thing I can think of that differs from one to another is the file formats that I upload or the length or position of half second of silence before and after the end theme music plays. Please respond in comments. A Tender Moment from "Terror at the Red Wolf Inn" (1972) A Tender Moment from "Terror at the Red Wolf Inn" (1972). This movie is from the "Nightmare Worlds" cheapo dvd collection, $20 for 50 movies, so presumably public domain. You know how modern movies always have some Humane Society rep to certify "No animals were harmed in the making of this movie"? I think this movie was filmed before that became a standard practice. Bel and The Dragon An apocryphal story from the Bible, shown as Chapter 14 of the Book of Daniel in the New American Bible. Melinda produced, starred as the Dragon and Daniel's servants' hands, co-narrated, puppeteered?, made magic, et cetera. This story was adapted by Rob, who also drew a set design (sketch of the bed), shared stuffed animal casting duties, co-narrated, and filmed the whole thing. Behind the scenes documentary coming soon, everyone screaming, it's like Hearts of Darkness meets Lost in La Mancha. Tags: bel dragon daniel bible story stuffed animals deidzoeb |

Flowers, Then Cats Flowers, then cats. Zatoichi is the gray and white longhair who keeps rolling his head around playfully. Lucky is the greyish tan tiger striped shorthair. Lozie is the tortoiseshell black and orange and tan who barely shows up on camera, so I had to adjust brightness just to see her. ** If anyone can identify the purple flower shown at 45 seconds, please leave a comment about it. Thanks*** Music is part of "Suite Espanola - Granada" by Cambridge Guitar Orchestra. I got it from "Podsafe Music" (music.podshow.com) so I assume it is either public domain or CC Sampling licensed. Podshow.com ought to give more details about what kind of licenses the songs are usable under, whether they can only be rebroadcast in full or whether they are okayed for sampling. ***correction: I uploaded this once and it had a visual glitch. roberpina99 left a comment on it. When I noticed the glitch, I set that version to private and uploaded this second version, which is now better but missing robert's comment. He wrote: "Flowers, then cats. Cats, then flowers. Buckaroo Banzai vs. Team Zissou Buckaroo Banzai and Stevesie Zissou assemble their ragtag teams for the ultimate confrontation of marching hipsters. Jeff Goldblum was trying to undermine Zissou all along because "Alistair Hennessey" was really just the cover for New Jersey! You have to overlook or explain the Red Lectroid aliens apparently fighting for Team Zissou, but irregularities like that shouldn't be a problem for fans of either franchise. Pulp Imperialism: The Lost City, excerpts chapters 2-8 Excerpts from The Lost City (1935), a sci-fi cliffhanger serial set in the heart of Africa. Colonial hijinx and racist hilarity are sure to follow. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0026652/ Our hero Bruce disparages one of the villains by saying "Butterfield is supposed to be a white man!" As if whites always treat each other well. Perhaps he'll learn a lesson from this serial: all the villains in the series are white men, with a few Arab slave-traders thrown in for good measure (played by white actors, of course). This is the second in a series highlighting the lowlights of imperialism and racism in some old cliffhangers and pulpy movies, all public domain. Stay tuned for more scenes from The Lost City, plus "Revolt of the Zombies", "Algiers," and maybe John Wayne in "The Three Musketeers." Pulp Imperialism: The Lost City, Chapter One Excerpts from The Lost City (1935), a sci-fi cliffhanger serial set in the heart of Africa. A mad scientist in a hidden mountain city uses some of the same electric gizmo props from Frankenstien to destroy men's brains and make them giant slaves. Not just any giants either. Since they only use it on Africans, the characters can talk about it by shouting "BLACK GIANTS!" Later he threatens to turn the good guys into "White Giants!" (???) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0026652/ Also notice at the end of this clip, our heroes hear a scream. "That sounds like a White girl's voice!" says Jerry. This is before she utters a single word in English. He can tell just by her screams. Makes you wonder what they would have done in some other situation: "That sounds like a Native girl's voice! We better walk way around so whatever happened to her doesn't happen to us." This is the first in a series highlighting the lowlights of imperialism and racism in some old cliffhangers and pulpy movies, all public domain. Stay tuned for more scenes from The Lost City, plus "Revolt of the Zombies", "Algiers," and maybe John Wayne in "The Three Musketeers." Pirates vs. Ninjas vs. Zombies vs. Robots Another meme thought to have originated on the internets is revealed to have much older roots, thanks to the recent discovery of this trailer for the 1936 Republic Pictures feature "Pirates vs. Ninjas vs. Zombies vs. Robots." April Fool's Day with Dayjob and Texas Smitty (Melinda) Melinda started making a video while I was practicing on new guitar. She coaxed me in to the computer room to play some and show it off (doesn't take much coaxing). And then she was too lazy to upload it to my Youtube account. Forget about the untimely April Fool's Day stuff and just watch for me playing guitar and Melinda being cute. It's a Fender resonator guitar. I'm not sure what exact model number is or any of the technical info. Does this count as a dobro, or do people only apply that word to wood-bodied resonators? Technically it's a brand name, but I know that it has come to mean any resonator guitar, just like "Kleenex" brand name has come to mean any facial tissue. Bashman is a thief who thinks he's funny Correction: Pat Dollard is not the same person as "Bashman." The one trying to make money off Melinda's videos is "Bashman." He posts on Pat Dollard's website. Bashman is a thief who thinks he's funny. He's using clips of Melinda's videos in a dvd of his garbage videos that he's selling! His username on Youtube is "Bashmaniacal." Contact him through youtube or through one of the websites selling his crap like patdollard.com or thebashman.com and let him know that he shouldn't be infringing on Melinda in his "Bash's Bootleg" dvd. If you're particularly ambitious, make a video telling what you think about it and post it as a response to one of Bashman's videos, or to one of Melinda's or to this video of mine. Thanks! *** GORE PORN WARNING: Although I encourage people to watch Bashman's DVD preview video before thoroughly criticizing him, you might not want to watch it, since it shows corpses without heads, people getting shot and bombed, etc. With any luck, youtube will flag it or remove it due to disgusting and violent imagery in the video. Don't flag it just because you don't like him, but if you feel it deserves to be flags according to Youtubes rules, as I do, then go for it. Melinda was playing some song in the other room as I recorded this. Was I infringing on that song?!?! Eek! I promise to extend 100% of profits from this video as royalties to the appropriate artist (i.e., $0.00). No HUMAN BEINGS were harmed in the making of this video. Can't say that about Bashman's videos. ** Update: Private message from Rabidmuse: "you have no fucking clue what you are talking about...I was inclined to back off...even pulled a few of my vids for feeling sorry for you...go check out the new video up by Bashmaniacal." Since Rabidmuse (Bashman sockpuppet) has me on friendslock after sending me a msg, here's my reply that I couldn't get thru to Rabidmuse: From what I hear, some of your videos were taken down from Liveleak because they agreed about copyright violation (either Melinda's or the dozens of others you've used clips from). So you repost one of them on youtube and try to claim that you were intentionally pulling videos because you were "feeling sorry"? It's not even a "new" video. I've seen it before, with the substantial excerpt of song, way too long for THAT to be fair use. I'm sorry that there's this misunderstanding where you think you can get away with using clips of anything if you keep it short and if you crack yourself up. Please read more about copyrights and fair use. You will see that the length of the clip or excerpt you use is only one factor in the determination of whether it's fair use. They also are looking for something other than simple humor or someone finding it funny for it to qualify as "parody." Tags: bashman thief bashmaniacal infringement DMCA melsbasketcase deidzoeb |
