Jet Thunder Falklands/Malvinas flak tests v2 Improved flak burst effect - less "orange" - video shows tests of flak - anti-aircraft guns firing in anger - from Oerlikon and Bofors 20mm/40mm shipborne artillery, AI-controlled, and even some point-blank SAM launches from Royal Navy vessels in Bomb Alley. Argentinean A-4 Skyhawks were forced to fly below ship deck height (15 ft, even 10 feet high, like I show in the video) and at maximum speed to try to avoid the curtain of anti-aircraft fire. Navy pilots attacking the HMS Ardent climbed to 200-300ft to drop the Mk-82 bombs and from this altitude the bombs were able to properly hit the target, detonating, and sinking the already damaged vessel. Many details lacking in our simulation, like muzzle flashes from the guns, AA crew characters on decks, splashes from shells hitting the water, shrapnel flying from the blasts, cockpit shake and turbulence, etc etc. The player's aircraft isn't yet taking account of the combat damage (direct hits, blast or shrapnel damage) - this is work-in-progress - we're aiming for a very complete damage model. But the AA positions on the warships can be put out of action by strafing or blast damage. All these combat-related parts of our code will be much improved through 2008. P.S.: People commented that it looks and feels like a WWII Pacific scene :) due to the amount and volume of flak - but its based on the artistic depictions of the 'Bomb Alley' by argentinean air force captain Exequiel Martinez: http://www.thunder-works.com/mai24.jpg http://www.thunder-works.com/attack_antelope.jpg Tags: artillery falklands malvinas A-4 skyhawk royal navy warship jet thunder flight sim combat homebrew armada argentina 3D |

Jet Thunder TrackIR 6DOF testing Testing TrackIR Vector Expansion 6DegreeOfFreedom 3D cockpit for Jet Thunder's A-4 Skyhawk. Notice that now the pilot can look around cockpit struts and check the refuel probe just right of the aircraft's nose. It's also possible to check the aircraft's wings (barely, because of the tight cockpit) but would be impossible if the cockpit view isn't 6DOF capable. Armada Argentina A-4Q Skyhawk Free flight over East Falkland (Isla Soledad) in an Armada Argentina's A-4Q Skyhawk. Known issues: undesirable clouds 'popup' here and there...and the AOA lights on Skyhawk cockpit must switch off when landing gear is raised. We're working on these issues. Jet Thunder on TV / Jet en Noticiero en Argentina TV Thunder-works' Ariel Cancio, 3D artist, got interviewed by Television News Program in Argentina (Channel 8). Unfortunately, unlike stated by the news, we can't predict exactly when the game will be released.

Pienso estarmos listos en 2008 (nosotros somos un equipo pequeno y sen recursos). 25 years ago over the South Atlantic waters My tests for an official short 'promo' for our combat flight sim project in development. :) Also a form of homage to the veterans in both sides as we're approaching the 25 years of the theme conflict. Vulcan - BlackBuck raid test in Falkland/Malvinas flight sim Rough 'BlackBuck' raid trial in Jet Thunder homebrew flight sim engine. The Avro Vulcan bomber here is XM597 attacking in early hours of morning - real one was 607 attacking during night, but the target was Port Stanley runway with a similar load (21x GP bombs). Explosions are still early work and they don't spread visible shockwaves or cause secondary explosions or fire as it should; therefore this is still far away from final product quality expected in Jet Thunder: Falklands/Malvinas. Jet Thunder: homegrown flight sim tech. Bombing run. Bombing run at our bombing range near Mount Tumbledown. Target was rock outcrops and it is level bombing at 450 kts / 2000ft, dangerously close to the minimum safe constraints for these 750lbs GP free fall bombs. Still no calculated CCIP or any other bombing symbology displayed in the HUD causing precision to be null. Will work carefully in this symbology later. Jet Thunder: homegrown flight sim tech. Dogfight gun kill. First test of gun kills with a degree of damage modelling. The "enemy" Sea Harrier is controlled by AI and is following a route (waypoints). Still no correct HUD gun piper or reticle for the Aden 30mm guns, but this will be developed soon. Jet Thunder: homegrown flight simulation technology "Jet Thunder" is a flight simulator in development, with a proprietary engine, being entirely developed by myself and my friends in our spare time. It's focused on the air war in the 1982 South Atlantic Conflict (Falklands War in english and Guerra de Malvinas en español) and at the moment it features complex engine simulation and aerodynamics, advanced avionics (HUD graphics, radar display with sweep and clutter effects) and of course a fully modeled 3D cockpit enabling TrackIR 6DOF viewing. The whole combat part is undergoing a major refactoring, so lets stay now with just the 'free flight' bits which I think are getting quite complete.Btw, the demo plane is the Sea Harrier.
