Sunrise on Haleakala Here is a time lapse of the sunrise over Haleakala with the voice from the lady who has been singing the morning chant every morning (from gohawaii.com). You really feel like your on Also dont miss the video from the drive down where you feel like your driving in the clouds. We would have been up there sooner but 30 minutes into the mountain we realized we didnt have enough gas to get to the top so we had to turn around and refuel 30 minutes back, but we still made it to the top (with a little bit of speeding). Lantern Floating Festival Over 1600 lanterns are dedicated by anyone who comes by early enough that day, by writing a personal message to a loved one who passed away or for prayers or wishes of peace or whatever you really want. Some people were very emotional with their lanterns. They had an a Taiko drum performance that was made up from people all over the world. Also a Japanese choir and several other groups performed. Thousands of people were there along with the governor of Hawaii, Mayor of Honolulu and congressmen so it was a huge event for Hawaiians. Anyways I went out into the water to catch these videos.
