Erik Boyd - Opinions (Prod. by New Millenium)[Remastered] i decided to re-do it without the cell phone. lol! Lyrics: Hook(2x): Opinions are like voices, we all have a different kind. Just sit back and get this in your mind. Opinions are like voices, we all have a different kind. Just relax and let me reach you inside. Verse 1 (Eboyd): As day gave way to starry night, And the glorious pastel moon shone bright, A color spectrum lined the sky, Like brush strokes on a canvas. Sly Sapphire stole into the air, And mist created a watercolor glare. Then came the scent of fresh, paved streets, And dew glazed grass; a novel treat. The wind combed the earth in soft, cool gusts From the ocean whose waves thrust, and crash themselves upon the shore, as they've done before and will forever more. Forever just and orderly, Yet still glorious and free. So as this gorgeous, spacious sky turned black, Happiness filled my soul, eyelids closed, head rolled back. (Hook) Verse 2 (Eboyd): As darkness began to consume the day, And skies began to turn an ether gray, Toxic streaks of color scarred the sky, Without care, purpose or reason why. The slow dying of the morning light, Into a blur of black and white, Further distorted by the moonlit fog. The pungent stench that pricked the sense Was odorous tar of streets so thick and dense. Then came the stinging cold of wind, Coming from over the bend, Where waves pointlessly drown the shells, With ever random, chaotic swell. The useless, nonrhythmic ebb and flow. So rushing came the crushing night; Eyelids heavy, lashes touching, i lost my sight. Question For Chuck D (please check description) sorry, i would have done a regular video but i had a nasty cold sore on my lip when i did this so i opted to just do audio. i am a very knowledgeable hip hop fan (you may even call me an elitist), emcee, poet and i aspire to be a producer. from what i've seen, it seems that the majority of hip hop fans stick with the norms and if anyone tries to expand hip hop into further realms, people don't want to hear it. it becomes, and i apologize for the race reference, "White" music according to the majority of hip hop fans and because of that, the only people who listen are people who aren't conventionally hip hoppers. i am talking about rather than using one sample throughout a song, use that sample for four bars, then switch it up, having instrumentation throughout. i'm talking about taking the 808 drum pattern, doing it on a real drum set, and making dynamic changes to it throughout the song. i'm talking layers of scratching. i'm talking songs that don't necessarily need drums. i'm talking musical notation for rapping so you can have an ever-changing, extremely complex flow. i'm talking about using Turntable Transcription Methodology (TTM. turntable notation that DJ Scratch helped develop). etc. there are so many realms that can be explored that no one has explored yet. what about writing actual poetry, and i mean like publishable poetry, not slam poetry, in 16 bars? that is what i do. tell me if i am wrong, but the biggest factor, IMO, that is holding hip hop from this happening is the clash between corporate and underground hip hop. what do you think? i am intrigued to hear some input from you. thanks. Help Me Edit My Poem i get so much love from everyone here on YouTube so i trust all the people who encourage me here to help me edit this poem. i don't even mind if i don't know you. if you can lend some help, please do. anyways, this poem is called Omnipresent Night. it is inspired by the struggles i was going through at the time i wrote it. i wrote it to not only stand alone as a poem, but to also fit into one verse of a three verse hip hop track. i feel it still is a bit awkward. the lyrics are written below and i will be changing them as i get good advice so it will differ from the written performance slightly. that will be good for comparing and changing it back if need be. the frantic meter that is ever-changing is intentional. i'd appreciate critiques on the meter too. i am a beginner when it comes to focusing on meter, but i've been writing "poetry" for a while. i like using my meter to help me tell the story, not just as a stagnate beat (iambic pentameter = boring). anyways, here are the lyrics: Flickering flames loom in the darkness. The damp air greets the skin. A dead end lies ahead once again. Demented squeals of bats nearby us, Their rabid fangs, their scalding glares. The rancid mist that stands the hairs; Festers in the black abyss. The loud growl of beasts in the dark, Pounding hard, the thudding heart. The roiled ground shakes the dust, From walls spreading through the air. Spider webs clinging to skin and moist hair. The tingle of the omnipresent night, While the walls begin closing in, Until no life remains within, And even the sun makes it's way out of sight. Eboyd feat. New Millenium & Trigger The Soldier - Opinions i decided to write a poem in 16 bar (hip hop) form and rap it to a track. Trigger helped me get production from New Millenium and he laced the beat with some gorgeous samples of John Coltrane on the saxophone from my favorite track of all time, Resolution, off the greatest album of all time, A Love Supreme, which is a HUGE influence in my style. in case anyone is unclear on the message behind the track, this is about how people have different opinions about things and that we should respect everyones opinion. if everyone likes this, i may do an actual video for it (low tech of course) so let me know what you think and we will put it together. also, if you like this track, you can find it on the Real Hip Hop Forever Mixtape Vol. 1 which you will soon be able to download at myspace/realhiphopforever1520 (in my top friends). thanks for watching! Lyrics: Hook (Trigger The Soldier)(2x): Opinions are like voices, we all have a different kind. Just sit back and get this in your mind. Opinions are like voices, we all have a different kind. Jazz Classics: Dizzy Gillespie - A Night In Tunisia hip hop fans should recognize the very beginning of this song as one of the many samples in Gang Starr's 1989 debut single "Words I Manifest." this track is simply amazing. everything from Dizzie's amazing trumpet playing to the infectious sound of the vibes that are sprinkled throughout the track. Dizzie Gillespie is famous for being one of the founders of Bebop, modern (along with Charlie Parker) and Cuban influenced Jazz. he died in January of 1993 but left his legacy behind. the pictures on this video show his face looking like that of a blowfish. his face looked like this because he never had any formal instruction on playing the trumpet but learned to play it anyways which damaged his face. you may recognize the style of trumpet he is playing; horn pointing upward. this was his signature and he was the very first to do this. he is also considered by many the first ever beat nick. enjoy. Jazz Classics: Charles Mingus - Boogie Stop Shuffle Charles Mingus was the undisputed greatest Jazz Bassist of all time. he was a bop player but also played with many artist before and after bop including Duke Ellington and John Coltrane. he is the man responsible for the bass being used for more than just time keeping purposes. he was also a great composer. he died in 1979, but left a legacy behind to make it seem he will never die. enjoy. Jazz Classics: Miles Davis - So What one of the many defining songs of the late, great Miles Davis's career. Miles has worked with many of Jazz's greatest musicians including Gil Evans, Bill Evans and John Coltrane (who were all involved in this song in some way). Miles died in 1991, but left a legacy behind of finding the "newest big thing" before it became big. he was even successful in his last few years as his final album saw production and rapping from hip hop producer Easy Moe Bee long before hip hop made it into the spotlight. the album was released posthumously. he was well-known for foreshadowing the beginning of cool Jazz with his album "Birth Of Cool," fusion with his legendary album "Bitches Brew," hot Jazz, and several other Jazz movements. enjoy. Jazz Classics: Ornette Coleman - Lonely Woman here is my second installment in my Jazz Classics series. this is a track by the great free jazz saxophonist Ornette Coleman and his band. much of his music is hard to just sit and listen to, but this song is great for any occasion if you can get into it. he is still alive today and has in fact recently released a new album. enjoy. Jazz Classics: The Bill Evans Trio - Gloria's Step (Take 2) now, as my subscribers and friends know, i am a big hip hop guy, but what many of you don't know is that i also appreciate other forms of music, especially Jazz. i have therefore decided that i am going to start uploading videos of my favorite Jazz songs in this series called Jazz Classics. i feel it is only right that hip hoppers know all forms of music because hip hop is about appreciating all artistic music. so i would like to let the hip hop fans that know me through YouTube know what some of my favorite Jazz songs are and maybe you can share the appreciation with me, because after all, there would be no hip hop without Jazz. also, for the Jazz fans out there, enjoy. this is a song by Bill Evans and his trio. Evans was one of Jazz's greatest pianists. he lived a short life (died at 51 in 1980) partially due to a recurring drug addiction that started when he played with the one and only Miles Davis. the drug of choice was heroin. when he got himself off of the heroin, a short while later he found cocaine. unfortunately, the cocaine would partially lead to his early demise. he played with many of the greatest Jazz musicians of all time and became one of the greatest himself. i don't claim to be a Jazz historian or to know the entire story of Bill Evans' life in it's entirety, nor do i claim that every stitch of my knowledge is correct, however, the above is what information i have collected from a few different sources. for more information or more correct information, please research for yourself. this is one of my absolute favorite pieces of music of all time. i hope you enjoy it as much as i do. Arrested Development - Mama's Always On Stage http://www.arresteddevelopmentmusic.com is one place you can go if you want to order AD's new album "Since The Last Time" which is their FIRST IN THE U.S. SINCE 1994!!! it came out in December of 2007 and their video for the lead single "Miracles" was featured on channel 330 on Directv, BETJ's show "Soul Sessions." This is a lesser known song off of the band's debut album "3 Years, 5 Months And 2 Days In The Life Of..." which got it's name from the exact length of time it took for their record deal to go through. The album was released to warm critical acclaim, selling 5 million copies and receiving heavy airplay with three singles, the infectious, spiritual song about going back to a simpler time, "Tennessee," the song that was meant to make people realize derelicts are people too, "Mr. Wendal," and AD's cover of Sly and the Family Stone's "Everyday People," "People Everyday." After their debut, AD released "Zingalamaduni." The album was released to a luke-warm reception and the band broke up two years later without releasing a follow up until they reunited in 2000 without their DJ, Headliner. Since the break up, AD has released 4 albums and their lead vocalist, Speech, has released 2 solo efforts. They continued to record in Europe and Asia and decided to return to the U.S. in December of 2007. This track, although not as well known as many of the other tracks on AD's debut, is one of hip hop's most conceptual songs with one of the most heavy and melodic uses of record scratching in the genre's history and an uncommon harmonica sample backing up one of hip hop's most unconventional cadences. If you are a fan of AD, you should love this track. Enjoy. Tags: hip-hop rap emcee mc dj deejay band group arrested development speech baba oje montosho eshe headliner dionne farris |

The Divine Truth (Please Read Description) this is a poem i wrote that illustrates my philosophies and beliefs. many of you may not agree with them but please do not criticize simply because you disagree with me. i believe in God but in a different way than most people do. this poem will illustrate that. to help you better understand this poem, here are the lyrics so you can read and follow along as you watch the video and listen to the audio. please read and/or listen carefully because this poem contains plenty of wordplay: What was once an infinite void is now existence: The presence of nothingness until nothing began to quiver, Thus creating the creator, And the misconception that the creator is a divine sole (misspelled on purpose, it is a pun). Truth be told, the creator's existence is infinite, Unconfined to the limitations of immortality; Existence is divinity. Logic is the key that unlocks truth. Existence is confined to no gender, nor are the sevens: Divinity is not one but all. It is not held only for those tangible, For its origins are intangible. In contrast, from the creation of the sevens came the sixes, In an eternal battle for control of all existence, While the divine retaliate in the name of freedom. Logic is the key that unlocks truth. The sixes preyed on the naive masses, Who in turn, to this day, pray to their deceiving creation meant to look divine, While the truly divine seek their souls for true meaning, And use their cranial swords to cut evil's umbilical cord from the bellies of those still attached, Unrested until all escape mental captivity, But currently this is an unfinished chapter. To find the end one must search their mind. For logic is the key that unlocks truth. and in case you didn't notice the symbolism, this poem is written in three 7 line stanzas minus the theme (777, 7 is God's number, etc.).
