five random things just a bunch of random things that didn't quite make it into my other videos... 1. snowflake sniffing a bird: the bird had just flown into the window while i was watching tv, then landed on the wall to recompose itself, i guess. it was obviously dazed because it didn't seem to realize snowflake was there. she doesn't have any front claws though, so she knew she couldn't catch it. 2. a spider. pretty self-explanitory. 3. hannah, me, manda, and my mom: we're all only an inch taller than each other, so i was trying to take a picture of us from tallest to shortest. 4. the stray cat in the park: five girls find a cat... what would you expect us to do? we cooed over it for a while and fed it some turkey and cheese. then we called the pound, which was just up the road. they said they don't take in cats anymore, just dogs. none of us could take a cat in right now, so we were forced to leave it there :( 5. mr. pig: we bought that while in south carolina. i had never been to a piggly wiggly before! hilarious! anyway, that's it. hope you enjoyed the randomness! trip to cali - part 2 san jose, santana row, and the winchester house. (read more) just a few interesting details about the mansion: after her husband died, lady winchester visited a fortune teller who told her that she was cursed to continuously build a house that was not allowed to ever be finished. for years and years she added more and more to the house, therefore making it bigger and bigger, some rooms hardly ever used, others never furnished completely. the house is still left unfinished, with doors and stairways leading to nowhere and windows everywhere you look, including the ceilings, floors and in some walls that stood between rooms instead of ones showing the outside. she was only a little over 4 feet tall, so some doorways are extremely small. she also developed arthritis later on in her life, so many stairways were redone so that the steps went winding sharply back and forth to fit the space and were only two or three inches high because she could hardly lift her legs. she loved the number thirteen. you can see it all over the house - the number of windows in a single room, the number of panels on a door... in the video i have of the spider web window, there are thirteen gems on it. also, her favorite flower was a daisy (which has thirteen petals) so there are many windows with daisies in it. i'm sure there are many more to spot in the video if you want to try. (oh yeah! the chandelier - it was made to hold a dozen candles, but if you pause the video @ 0:49, you can see she added a thirteenth candleholder, crooked, sticking out on the side!) because she so badly believed that she was cursed, she also thought there were evil spirits after her, so as she kept building onto the ever-growing mansion, she had doors put in that led to nowhere, pantry doors that opened to no pantry and instead a blank wall, and stairways that led to the nothing but the ceiling. this was to confuse the evil spirits from finding her somewhere in the depths of the house. yeah, i'm pretty sure she was insane. so now, because of the old stories, people believe that the house is still haunted by not only the bad spirits, but of lady winchester's ghost too. i'm not sure what i believe, but all i know is i would not want to get lost in that huge place in the middle of the night... or better yet, on a friday the thirteenth! any questions? ask me! music: "must get out" by maroon 5 Tags: emlove143 winchester house mansion museum san jose
