The Magic Show Richmond $5K - Top 4 Match Alex Bertoncini vs. Scott Jeltima GAME 1 In game one, Scott leads with a Grove of the Burnwillows and Birds of Paradise. Alex plays a Turn 2 Bitterblossom and says Go. Scott plays Gaddock Teeg and Fire-Lit Thicket. Alex plays Pestermite during Scott's upkeep, tapping his Fire-Lit Thicket. Scott attacks with Gaddock Teeg. Alex then attacks with a token and the Pestermite. Scott plays Stonecloak in response, returning his Gaddock Teeg and trading with the Pestermite. Alex is now at 18 life, Scott is at 19. Scott plays Kitchen Finks, going up to 21. Alex plays an end of turn Scion of Oona that gets Incinerated during that same end of turn step. During Scott's next upkeep Alex plays a Pestermite that taps Scotts Kitchen Finks. Scott plays Tarmogoyf and Gaddock Teeg and passes. Alex plays a Sower of Tempation, taking the Tarmogoyf and swings with three tokens and a Pestermite. He then plays Spellstutter Sprite, pumps it with Pendelhaven and blocks Kitchen Finks. Scott goes up to 21. At his end of turn step Alex plays Scion of Oona. On his next turn, Alex attacks with Scion and pumps it with Pendelhaven, taking Scott to 19. He does this again the next turn, taking him to 17. Scott cycles Edge of Autumn on Flagstones of Trokair, plays Birds of Paradise, and passes the turn. Alex attacks with Scion of Oona and pumps it with Pendelhaven, taking Scott to 15. Scott plays a Kavu Predator, which Alex counters with Cryptic Command and draws a card to boot. Alex attacks with his Scion of Oona and Faerie Conclave as Scott drops to 10. Alex plays Mistblind Clique during Scott's upkeep. In response, Scott floats mana and simply activates his Treetop Village. During Alex's next turn, he attacks with Mistblind Clique and Faerie Conclave, taking Scott to 5 life. Scott draws a card and scoops them up. The Magic Show Richmond $5K - T8 Match Fuentes vs. Blackman Top 8 Match Coverage thanks to James Norris. GAME 1 Both players keep their opening hands. Calosso leads with Toughtseize revealing Cryptic Command, Mistblind Clique, Spellstutter Sprite, Bitterblossom, Terror, and two lands...taking the Bitterblossom. What a surprise! Calosso then drops Wren's Run Vanquisher, revealing Imperious Perfect. Calosso plays Pendelhaven, destroying Brett's own and attacks, taking them to both to 17. Brett plays Bitterblossom and passes. Calosso attacks with Wren's Run Vanquisher taking Brett to 14 and then plays Tarmogoyf. Brett terrors the Goyf soon afterward. Calosso attacks Brett down to 9 and passes. Brett plays Mistblind Clique during Calosso's upkeep, removing Bitterblossom. Calosso attacks with Wren's Run Vanquisher, and Brett trades the Mistblind Clique for it. Brett suspends Ancestral Vision and attacks with two tokens. Brett then plays Spellstutter Sprite. Brent attacks with three tokens and Spellstutter Sprite taking Calosso down to just 4 life. Brett then swings once more with the fliers to elicit the scoop. GAME 2 Each player keeps their opening hand and Calosso leads off with a Treetop Village. Calosso then plays a Llanowar Elf and Thoughtseizes Brett revealing two Spellstutter Sprites, two Flashfreeze, Nameless Inversion, Scion of Oona, and a land. Calosso takes the Nameless Inversion. Brett plays Pendelhaven and passes. Calosso then plays Tarmogoyf which is countered by Flashfreeze. Calosso plays Thoughtseize and pulls another Nameless Inversion. Calosso activates and attacks with Treetop Village, while Brett plays a Spellstutter Sprite at the end of Calosso's turn, as well as a Scion of Oona. Calosso then plays Squall Line, clearing Brett's board. Calosso plays Profane Command for two, returning Tarmogoyf and putting Brett at 14. Brett plays a Scion of Oona at end of turn, attacking with it and pumping it with Pendelhaven. Calosso attacks with the 4/5 Tarmogoyf, taking Brett down to 10. Brett activates and attacks with Mutavault and Scion of Oona, putting Calosso at 4. Calosso evokes Cloudthresher at end of turn, and Brett pumps Scion of Oona with Pendelhaven for the save. Calosso attacks Brett with Tarmogoyf, dropping him to 4. Brett activates two Mutavaults and attacks with both as well as Scion of Oona. Calosso then evokes Cloudthresher to put himself at zero.
