Mavis Staples - Since I Fell For You There have been lots of covers of "Since I Fell For You" over the years since it was composed by Buddy Johnson in 1945. The versions by Dinah Washington and Lenny Welch are very lovely but for sheer breathtaking soul, power and emotion, this version by Mavis Staples is the best in my opinion. I would go as far as to say that this is one of my favorite female vocal performances of all time. I hope someone out there loves it as much as I do :). Tags: Mavis Staples Since Fell For You Soul
