Standard Operating Procedure deleted scene In the course of gathering material for his upcoming documentary on Abu Ghraib, Academy Award-winning director Errol Morris conducted over 200 hours of interviews with key figures. Col. Janis Karpinski, at the time of Abu Ghraib a Brigadeier General, was the commander of the prison and later in charge of Saddam Hussein once he was captured. Of course, the vast majority of material can't make the cut and this scene, while compelling, wasn't in the film when Errol Morris presented it at the 2007 New Yorker Festival. Full-length interview with Errol Morris and Philip Gourevitch, which this clip is excerpted from: http://www.newyorker.com/online/video/festival/2007/MorrisGourevitch Tags: Errol Morris Abu Ghraib Karpinski Prisoners Torture Saddam Hussein Interview Documentary |

Ron Paul and the Darfur Genocide My name is Greg Brown; I'm a student in Manhattan, KS, and my question is for Ron Paul. Earlier this year, the House of Representatives voted on a bill - H.R. 180 - saying that we should eliminate government investment in companies associated with the regime responsible for the Darfur genocide. This would have been a purely free-market solution and reduced our overseas involvement, two policies that you've supported in the past. Why, then, were you the only member in the entire House of Representatives to vote against this bill? Tags: Darfur, Sudan, Genocide, Republican, GOP, Ron Paul, Debate, Question |
