Manhattan Transfer - You Can Depend On Me From their 1980 Park West concert recorded live for PBS' Soundstage. Unlike the "You Can..." included in my previous post, this is of good quality. What makes this performance unique is, unlike the album cut from their self-named album, the solo performances are scatted by Tim and Janis vs. the worded version from the album and the mix from the early clip I had posted here. This one also features the (in)famous "clapping hands" as discussed a few years back on the manhattan transfer group (mantrans) on YahooGroups. Manhattan Transfer - Johnny Carson - Spice Of Life - 1983 This is the third Carson segment I found on an ancient VHS tape I had recorded (egads, at EP speed and only mono, sorry, no hifi VHS back in "those" days.) Like the other segments sound is poor (it had a lot of tape hiss) and video was the worst of the three segments. I brought out the voices at the sacrifice of the instruments in trying to correct for the hiss. They're there, but they won't sound like much. Manhattan Transfer - Johnny Carson - Heart's-Unchained- 1982 I've actually found 3 Johnny Carson show segments where the group appeared. This is the second one which features Heart's Desire and Unchained Melody. Like the first tape, this is a 20+ year old VHS-EP speed done over the air on a mono-recorder. I believe it was 1982, possibly 1983. Tweaked the sound a bit different than the first segment I posted and I believe I brought the voices out a bit better. Manhattan Transfer - Johnny Carson - Trickle - Depend - 1980 An appearance by the group on Johnny Carson back sometime in 1980. I recorded it a year or two after as a "Best Of Carson" that reaired at EP on a mono VCR (they didn't have HiFi ones then.) This was back when Carson had a band perform more than one tune. Trickle Trickle and You Can Depend On Me are featured here. I did my best to clean-up the video and the audio was horrid. I got rid of the tape noise and have it in cheesy stereo, but it beats what I could do with it as a mono recording. Still, fun to see however ... just don't expect much from the audio. Manhattan Transfer - Emeril Live Christmas 2004 Manhattan Transfer appears on the Christmas Emeril show, 1 month after the release of their album Vibrate in 2004. This video is excised of most Emeril material and chopped down to the group's partial song clips. Also included is a longer Walkin' In New York than the other segments here. The final 30 seconds is a non-musical moment (out of time order) with an amusing exchange between Janis and Emeril.
