Attended De La Salle H.S. in Concord, CA where the Spartans went undefeated in those four years. Selected as Bay Area High School Player of Year after team named USA Today National Champions. Also named All-League and All-County. High school teammate of Denver Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams. Earned total of 11 letters in four high school sports: track (4), football (3), basketball (3), and baseball (1). Played on five different state championship teams (football-3, track-1, basketball-1). All-Conference twice in basketball, once in baseball and two-time state finalist in individual track events. Earned bachelors degree in communications from Portland State, graduating with honors. College roommate of Arizona WR/DB Orshawante Bryant who says he loves Mexican food and he can't live without it. Enjoys anything outdoors including camping and skiing. Denzel Washington is his choice to portray him in a movie. Cheered for the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland A's and Golden State Warriors as a kid. Favorite players were Jerry Rice, Ricky Henderson and Tim Hardaway. Favorite movie is "The Passion of the Christ". Aspires to be the best daddy in the world. Nicknames include Shad or Shaddy. Lists favorite college memory as meeting and falling in love with his wife, Kiauna. During the offseason, helps run Kiaunas family's Italian restaurant, Amalfis, in Portland, Oregon. He works as waiter, bartender, cook, host, or whatever Kiauna, the boss, asks him to do. This past offseason he did some in-studio college football analyst work for the NFL Network on their College Scoreboard.
