| Sir John Gielgud - Prospero's Books - The Tempest Peter Greenaway's Fellini-esque vision of "The Tempest," by William Shakespeare, is a must-own film that bears many repeated viewings. John Gielgud reads every part, with other voices overlayed for various characters. The dreamlike, lush atmosphere of the movie frames the timeless language of Shakespeare in it's intended setting of incantation, ritual, and sensuality. There's a lot of nudity in the movie, but it's incidental - the real star is Shakespeare himself - this is Peter Greenaway's loving tribute.
