| QUENTIN CRISP - The First Documentary PART ONE (1970) After the publication of his book, The Naked Civil Servant, in 1968 QUENTIN CRISP was approached by documentary maker Denis Mitchell to be the subject of a short film in which he was to talk about his life, voice his opinions and sit around in his London bedsit filing his nails - which he did, brilliantly. This 1970 broadcast brought enough attention to Crisp and his book that he soon entered talks about a dramatisation. In 1975 THE NAKED CIVIL SERVANT was broadcast on British and American television - and made both actor John Hurt and Crisp himself into stars. By 1981 Quentin was living in Manhattan - the world famous 'Englishman In New York.' Watching this very first documentary portrait of Crisp, it's incredible to think where Life would take him in his seventies and eighties. (Part ONE of Three) Tags: Quentin Crisp |
